Entrepreneurial Tax Director- Scotland

As an Entrepreneurial Tax Director, you will be a key part of our Scotland Tax Team and will work closely with our teams across the country. You will be joining an experienced and well-respected tax service line where you will be responsible for working closely with our Entrepreneurial Tax Partner to drive forward the success of the team.

For this position, we are keen to speak with candidates that have a strong reputation in their local market and are well connected across Scotland. You will have a broad range of tax experience dealing with owner managed businesses and will be operating at a senior level within your current position.

Key Accountabilities
  • Helping to manage our existing tax advisory specialists and shape their careers in the future.
  • Assisting in work covering transaction and entrepreneurial tax areas. Specialist areas include tax structuring, pre-sale planning for owner managed businesses/corporate groups, shareholder exits, share based incentives; as well as restructures and demergers.
  • Providing deal support for our Corporate Finance function including review of legal agreements and offering alternative deal structures/views where applicable.
  • Dealing with ad-hoc queries from our other service lines including Audit, Accounts & Business Advisory, Corporate Finance & Tax.
  • Providing Tax due diligence support for small OMBs up to Larger Corporates, where necessary.
  • Sharing knowledge across the wider tax team and engaging with staff at all levels to develop their tax knowledge and support their work.
  • Getting involved in marketing activities such as writing topical articles for publication both internally and externally to develop the profile of Azets’ Entrepreneurial Tax offering.
  • Developing client relationships and winning work from our existing client base and new prospects.
  • Growing our Entrepreneurial Tax offering to contribute to the success of this specialist area.
  • Working as a key part of our National UK Tax Knowledge Hubs.

Skills & Experience
  • Experience in tax structuring/pre-sale planning for owner managed businesses and corporate groups (including tax structuring, pre-sale planning for owner managed businesses/corporate groups, shareholder exits, share based incentives; as well as restructures and demergers).
  • Strong knowledge of current HMRC practices regarding tax planning and share incentive plans.
  • Experience in Business Asset Disposals Relief, Substantial Shareholding Exemption and structuring businesses to ensure efficiency and to maximise available reliefs.
  • Skilled in Share schemes – inclusive of EMIs and Growth Shares.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Ability to motivate a team.
  • Proven client relationship skills.
  • An understanding of the importance of networking.
