Job Summary
On behalf of our client, a top Life Insurance Company owned by a Pan-African group, we are recruiting for the role of Chief Financial Officer. In this role, you will report to the CEO, with whom you will work closely to provide ownership and direction to the organization’s financial strategy, financial management and investment management. You will have complete oversight of the organization’s financial and actuarial functions, including financial accounting, management accounting (including budgets and forecasts), financial reporting, tax and financial performance enhancement.
Responsibilities
Financial Governance
- Ensure the company’s compliance with all relevant financial regulatory, business and reporting governances. Interacting with the relevant regulators Set policies, procedures, standards and guidelines within finance that are aligned with regulatory standards
Actuarial Management
- Actuarial services including, actuarial valuations, calculation of the value of new business, embedded value and the analysis of earnings on embedded value, modelling, experience analysis and analysis in the implementation of strategic initiatives
- Optimise the value of the in-force book by investigating initiatives to improve the value and/or reduce the risk embedded in the in-force book
- Guide and contribute to the own risk and solvency assessments
Management and Statutory Reporting
- Drive the implementation of regulatory and reporting developments including IFRS 17
- Quality, timing, relevance and adequacy of management-, financial- and statutory information and reporting
- Identify trends, red flags and meaningful interpretation of management reports, and assist with solutions
- Ensure that the company’s financial requirements are consistently met and that the capital structure is optimised at all points in time
Other responsibilities include People management, Stakeholder engagement and relationship management
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Chartered Accountant or Actuary
- Minimum 10 years post-qualification working experience at a similar level role
- Experience in the actuarial aspects of the financial industry and regulatory reporting
- Knowledge of IFRS including the IFRS17 standard, financial risk management, financial modelling, analysis and control
