Group Treasury forms part of the wider Financial Services division and is responsible for the Group’s funding and liquidity management, capital forecasting and execution, and asset and liability management. Group Treasury works closely with the business units across a number of areas providing strategic assistance and advice to support the decision-making processes of the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO), Executive Committee and the Board.

Group Treasury Finance provides management accounting and product control support for Group Treasury Front Office operations, including Portfolio Management (Asset & Liability Management, Liquidity Investment Portfolio [LIP]), Group Funding & Liquidity and Capital & Regulatory Strategy desks. It also provides daily and monthly accounting and performance management and planning for front office desks, the Treasury leadership team and Group Finance.

Do work that matters

The role covers a mix of central performance management & reporting processes as well working with other finance business partners in the team.

Performance reporting aspects of the role include:

  • Supporting delivery of a calendar of Treasury Finance management reporting deliverables
  • Support ongoing work on key finance metrics for the Treasury business in aspects such as Expense management, Revenue performance, RWA usage as well as NIM, Yield and tax analysis
  • Interface between Treasury, Group Finance and other Finance support teams
  • Focus on ongoing high quality reporting to our key stakeholders though automation, simplicity, search for new insights and a responsiveness to changing business drivers

Business partnering aspects of the role include:

  • Central coordination role with other finance team members on the above deliverables
  • On occasion, both for learning purposes and to assist balancing of wider team deliverables, support tasks of other Treasury Finance business partners and other Treasury Finance teams which could include Transfer Pricing, Liquidity Reporting and Hedge Accounting

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee range of management reporting outputs including oversee aspects of Daily P&L Reporting process, coordinate key Group Month end reporting deliverables, covering aspects of Income, Expenses, Tax and Balance Sheet analysis, preparation of inputs to key Treasury leadership team monthly performance packs, support preparation of Quarterly CEO/CFO Briefing Packs and semi-annual RAP analysis and Statutory reporting
  • Take a lead role in ongoing operating and project expense analysis and reporting work, ultimately to support proactive cost management and adherence to expense plans and targets
  • Support ongoing analysis and reporting on key Treasury balance sheet positions and relevant DQ preparation tasks
  • Support Treasury P&L forecasting & planning work, such as Monthly Forecast updates, Annual Planning cycle and periods Plan Transfers tasks
  • Play a support role in delivering on and enhancing the provision of value adding information to the Group Treasury Leadership team – in aspects such as streamlined and automated reporting packs, insights on Treasury business drivers and key Group Finance metrics such as NIM and Yield analysis
  • Contribute to wider team focus on productivity and simplicity winds through application of technology solutions for improved delivery of the above agenda of deliverables and support as a business user key ongoing transformation projects
  • Build and maintain a productive relationship with the key stakeholders, particularly amongst Treasury senior management and in Group Finance functions

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Strong attributes in aspects of communication skills, attention to detail, managing multiple deliverables and stakeholder management
  • Familiarity with CBA’s key management reporting processes and systems (PeopleSoft, Tableau and SQL) would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of principles of Treasury function and regulatory framework including transfer pricing knowledge, mark to market and hedge accounting principle
  • Working knowledge of relevant accounting for financial products (such as MTM, accrual accounting, derivatives)
  • Responsiveness and ability to adapt to key stakeholder requests in a fast paced environment
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CA/CPA) preferable.
