We have a great opportunity as a Supplier Auditor - Food, to join our Central Technical Team that's part of our Food Commercial team. In this role you'll be supporting the Fresh and Grocery categories to drive supplier performance by delivering a variety of risk-based assessments and audits. You'll be required to conduct approx. 2/3 visits a week to the suppliers to provide the support that's necessary in both the UK and Europe. As a Supplier Auditor you are always looking out for the high standards of safety and quality our suppliers expect from us; after all customers are at the heart of what we do!

As a Supplier Auditor you'll:
  • Deliver the risk based programme of Site Assessment and Onboarding Assessment, Sainsbury's Approved Audits, Routine Contact, Freefrom, sustainability standards and ethical audits covering food, non-food grocery, print, packaging and key indirect suppliers.
  • Support the Technical Category Teams to manager their supply base as requested and provide specialist audit expertise and support.
  • Maintain the flexibility to provide a rapid response to supplier and product issues as and when required.
  • To identify and rectify any unacceptable practices at suppliers related to the safety, quality, legality and ethical standards of Sainsbury's Brand products, working closely with the Category Technical teams to ensure satisfactory conclusion of all issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate the outcome of all supplier audits and ensure every visit is fully documented on Greenlight, communicated to all stakeholders and closed out within the agreed timescales.
  • Ensure all adverse audits are fully cost recovered in a timely manner.
  • Identify emerging supply base risks based on knowledge of current threats and industry trends
Our Central Technical Operations team would love to see:
  • Experience in food, non-food, GM or retail auditing Experience in food auditing either in retail or supply base
  • HACCP Level 3
  • Degree in food technology, Chemistry, Biology or related discipline desirable if demonstrable experience in food auditing
  • Fraud detection techniques
  • Root cause analysis techniques
  • Good level of Microsoft Office skills
  • Full driving licence essential
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to follow issues through obsessively
  • Self-motivated to work on own initiative as well as within a team
  • Advocate for product quality
  • Able to build collaborative relationships through networking internally and externally
  • Strong organisation and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate at all levels
