The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent global group within Finance, responsible for reviewing and reporting fair value inventory consistently across all asset classes. We work closely with VCG teams across all regions and businesses at Citi, and collaborate with the business and risk teams to develop a deep understanding of the products traded, and to ensure valuation control policy is implemented accurately.

In this position you will use and expand your experience and professional skills for the following responsibilities:

  • You will work as a member of the Global Valuation Methodology Policy team, covering all businesses and regions at Citi.
  • The purpose of the team is to help ensure Citi has the most appropriate and complete valuation control framework across all areas of price verification, valuation adjustments, valuation uncertainty and wider governance aspects.
  • The focus of the team is to investigate these issues, and to provide specific, practical and implementable advice on how to address the issues.
  • You will support the development of a strong valuation framework and the application of consistent valuation methodologies for Citi.
  • You will play an active role working in partnership with Valuation Control managers across multiple locations.
  • You will assist in developing and drafting formal policies, technical papers and governance documents, and overseeing their implementation
  • You will support the management and delivery of various valuation governance forums
  • You will coordinate global valuation methodology projects and initiatives, tracking progress of key projects against deadlines, including regulatory and audit actions.
  • You will lead initiatives, and interact with senior management to develop and propose solutions to complex technical challenges or control issues

The ideal candidate for this position preferably possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a valuation, risk or product control related discipline (others are welcome to apply)
  • University/College degree in any finance, economics or quantitative subject
  • An ability to understand complex concepts and effectively challenge peers in Finance, Risk and the Business
  • An understanding of derivative and securities products and different models used for valuation is a plus
  • An ability to work across teams & silos, and to leverage existing relationships
  • Leadership skills in influencing and coordinating people
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances, as the prioritization of projects will need to evolve
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
