Why KPMG?

At KPMG, our values define who we are and the way we do business. As a leading professional services firm, we know that our strength and capability come from our people – their different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. From our inclusive leadership strategy to our diversity and inclusion targets – we’re making bold changes to who we are and what we do. Be part of it.

We are looking to recruit a Tax Investigations Senior Manager to join our national team. The role will involve working closely in a strong team on a range of clients and exciting projects, collaborating with different teams and locations across the firm. The successful candidate will have significant experience of managing HMRC enquiries and investigations, and assisting clients with voluntary disclosures.

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and for the timely delivery of services. You will also support directors, partners and other colleagues from across the tax practice with complex tax enquiries / investigations and voluntary disclosures to ensure a satisfactory settlement is negotiated between the client and HM Revenue & Customs.

You will be required to provide advice on an ad hoc basis across the tax practice on a range of issues covering HMRC enquiries and voluntary disclosures.

You will be expected to contribute toward marketing and business development initiatives and build sustainable internal and external client relationships.

You will oversee the day to day running of the investigation or disclosure for a portfolio of clients.
You will prepare investigation and disclosure reports, including reviewing the computational aspects of the report, for submission to the HMRC, working directly to a partner or director and delegating appropriate tasks to more junior staff.

You will liaise directly with clients, contacts and other parties to ensure work is done and produced according to the desired timescales. You will take part in the negotiation of the settlement either directly or jointly with the partner or director.

You will manage the billing and collection in respect of each client in your portfolio. You will identify and recognise business and sales opportunities and inform the relevant director or partner as appropriate.

What we require from you:

  • Extensive experience of tax enquiries, investigations and voluntary disclosures.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build a network of contacts and have won work from existing networks in the past
  • The desire to take ownership of your career and development.
  • CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified (or overseas equivalent), or relevant work experience.
