Your field of responsibility
- Assisting in closing of the monthly general ledgers by booking IFRS and US GAAP journal entries for CS AG, Toronto Branch (CSTB) and Credit Suisse Securities (Canada), Inc. (CSSC) and providing internal reporting to various partners.
- Producing regulatory reporting for CSTB, a foreign branch regulated by OSFI.
- Completing daily Risk Adjusted Capital reporting for CSSC.
- Performing monthly account reconciliations and sign-off and ensuring reconciliations adhere to internal firm policies (SOX Compliance).
- Completing financial reporting packages for internal risk reporting and CSSC Board of Directors meetings.
- Preparing materials for annual tax returns and assisting in audit preparation (statutory financial statements, external regulatory audits and internal reviews).
- Assisting with annual Compliance documentation requirements.
- Supporting expense management and tax payments for the Canadian entities.
- Maintaining up-to-date business process documentation for accounting and regulatory activities (for process continuity and internal compliance purposes).
- Responding to inquiries from internal partners, including Global CS Finance teams, Corporate Functions teams and Lines of Business to provide Resolution.
- Participating in change initiatives (e.g. systems change, new business development, accounting or regulatory change) as required.
- Resolving issues that are directly or indirectly related to the area of responsibility, issue tracking and documentation.
- Providing direct support and back-up for AVPs responsible for CSTB and CSSC financial and regulatory reporting.
Interfaces:
- Direct manager, other Financial Accounting staff in Canada, other members of the Corporate Functions teams in Canada, CS Finance in Raleigh, NY, Zurich and Pune, CS Product Control in Raleigh, CS Tax in NY, and internal and external audit staff.
Back up:
- Financial Accounting team members back each other up.
- Role must ensure cross training and build backup for tasks across the Financial Accounting team.

Financial Accounting is part of the CFO division and is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of financial and regulatory information for the two legal entities actively operating in Canada – CSTB and CSSC. The main functions of the department include closing the month-end ledgers, performing financial analysis, and preparing Head Office and local financial, regulatory, management and tax reporting. The position reports to the VP, Financial Accounting.

Your skills and experience
Technical skills:
We are looking for highly motivated applicants with accounting qualification: CPA or working towards CPA designation with 1-5 years of proven experience in financial services industry with knowledge of banking activities, investment banking and capital markets, and financial accounting to support these businesses.
- Experience in IIROC/OSFI Canadian regulatory reporting an asset.
- Tax experience an asset.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Other key tools: PeopleSoft GL, SmartView, Word and PowerPoint skills.
