JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Finance Manager is responsible for developing and implementing mechanisms to ensure that the financial impact of Strategic projects and initiatives are accurately forecasted, measured and tracked. This includes the approval of business cases; identifying and highlighting financial trends that could hinder or accelerate the financial impact of the objectives; and providing input on communications related to the financial impact overall delivery.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Track and validate business cases for strategic projects and initiatives as well as coordinate overall allocation of resources.
2. Work closely with Group Finance, the Group CFO and Transformation Office to ensure a consistent approach to valuations and financial impact of projects and initiatives.
3. Perform financial tracking of progress against commitments (both value delivery and timing).
4. Segregate the financial impact from baseline performance.
5. Resolve resource allocation, project management, financial and risk issues together with the Group Chief Financial Officer and other key stakeholders as appropriate.
6. Work closely with Group Finance on the financial impact of strategic projects and initiatives on Budgets.
7. Highlight developing financial trends which could hinder or accelerate financial impact of strategic deliverables.
8. Perform trend analyses to forecast future monthly impacts and compare against monthly financial goals.
9. Make recommendations to resolve emerging issues or take advantage of positive trends.
10. Anticipate and recommend solutions for financial issues that arise.
11. Provide Management with adequate information and guidance to support its decision making.
12. Monitor fundamental economic, industrial, and corporate developments by analyzing information from financial publications and services, investment banking firms, government agencies, trade publications, company sources, or personal interviews.
13. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
14. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Group Chief Financial Officer.
EDUCATION:
• First Degree in Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution OR
• ACCA qualified
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• 5 - 7 years’ experience in Accounting, post qualification.
• At least 5 years’ experience at a Managerial level.
• Appreciation of basic principles of Human Resources, Marketing, Information Technology, etc.
PERSONALITY:
The Finance Manager must be meticulous, systematic and logical. He/she must be able to manage time and resources efficiently. He/she must possess the ability to perform large amounts of numerical work with speed and accuracy. The incumbent must be self-motivated and vibrant. He/ She must demonstrate the ability to use initiative and should possess the ability to work under stress. The ideal candidate must possess very good research and analytical skills coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to effectively schedule work, set quality targets and meet deadlines. He/she must be proactive, decisive and therefore must possess the ability to make effective decisions in a prompt manner.
