Purpose of the role

Generalist VAT advisory role covering multiple sectors such as property and construction, manufacturing, consumer goods, not-for-profit, professional partnerships and financial services. The role will involve some compliance work, including managing VAT team input for our Global Business Solutions colleagues (outsourced book keeping team) but also a significant amount of advisory projects, including working with the Crowe international network on cross-border client projects.

The VAT team at Crowe is a National team working closely together, the successful candidate will be based in either the Manchester or Midlands office and will support partners and clients of the Midlands, Manchester and Cheltenham offices with the existing VAT team covering the regions.  This role will involve travel to all Crowe offices and to client premises, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will have experience in an advisory role with a ‘go-to’ and team player attitude.
  • It is desirable that the candidate will have experience of advising in a range of sectors.
  • It is desirable that the candidate will be working towards their professional qualifications.
  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop on the services we provide in specific sectors and take the lead based on their own areas of interest/expertise.
  • This role is not just delivery. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to marketing and business development. We regularly provide client alerts, thought leadership and speak at physical events and webinars.
  • This role will report in to the regional VAT Managers and there will be the opportunity for progression to Assistant Manager and beyond.
  • A team of junior staff are available to support the individual - they will be expected to delegate work, assist in developing the junior staff and manage both client and internal relationships.
  • The role will also include supporting the VAT services to the Crowe Global Business Solutions team (outsourced book keeping team), this includes reviewing VAT returns as well as advisory projects.
  • There is a significant amount of interaction with other lines of services (tax, audit, corporate finance).
  • A willingness to travel is essential as it is envisaged that the successful candidate will work across the Crowe offices as well as visiting clients across the country, as appropriate once lock down restrictions are lifted.
