Morgan's Custody and Fund Services business is comprised of Custody, Accounting, Transfer Agency, Middle Office outsourcing, Foreign Exchange, and other activities related to servicing assets for traditional and alternative funds; it leverages its scale and capabilities in more than 100 markets to help clients optimize efficiency, mitigate risk and enhance revenue through a broad range of collateral management, securities financing and alternative investment services.

Business Overview & Role Description:

Securities Services Finance & Business Management is seeking a business manager at Executive Director level based in London or Bournemouth. You will provide support for the Custody business and help to deliver key strategic initiatives within Securities Services. You will work closely with the business along with the functional partners across the firm which includes Product Management, Sales, Product Controllers, Planning & Analysis, as well as Product Development, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Strategy and Growth
    • Act as a trusted advisor / counterweight to the head of the business
    • Partner with the business head and management team to develop priorities to enable delivery of the overall strategy for the business
    • Lead the development of new business initiatives (structure interest rate pricing, digital currencies etc.) understand the risks and implement controls, in partnership with functional partners
  • Business Performance and Planning
    • Manage forecasts within changing market environment and ensure robust client planning
    • Take the leadership role in the business budget process for Custody (supported by Product Controllers and Planning & Analysis)
    • Drive investment / productivity initiatives to achieve multi-year targets
    • Align front office teams and support groups to achieve business priorities around the Liquidity agenda
    • Support the Product lead and Business Management lead to drive the businesses forward
  • Management Reporting
    • Compile and present monthly business reviews, new business tracking and periodic management updates
    • Oversee tracking key performance indicators and highlight trending, considerations to help maximise profit, reduce risks and ensure cost discipline
  • Regulation, Risk and Controls
    • Understand the impact of new regulations on the business and how that may impact the business strategy
    • Provide business overviews and updates for Product meetings with Regulators and ad-hoc requests
  • Analysis
    • Develop ad-hoc analytics to help the business better understand and manage costs, risks, pricing, growth opportunities
    • Communication of Results and Forecasting – Support Business Lead and Global Business Manager by providing timely, accurate, and thorough information on variances and risks & opportunities to Budget

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Extensive experience in financial services including prior experience in Securities Services
  • Strong track record in finance and accounting
  • Motivational, supportive and focused on continuing personal development and that of wider matrix partners via sharing knowledge
  • Willingness to take initiative and work independently / be a problem solver and set direction
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with business leaders
  • Commercial acumen – Ability to understand and grow the strategic business vision; focus on improving the bottom line

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Effective communicator – create logical and conclusive presentations, distilling complex subject matter into management-ready materials
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of interest rates, on / off balance sheet liquidity and deposits
  • Expert Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills
