Assistant Finance Business Analyst

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join us as an Assistant Finance Business Analyst. You will need to have experience from within Finance as this opportunity will be based in our R2R (record to report) function whereby the Assistant Management Accountant is responsible for the analysis, maintenance and initial sign off of the monthly accounts.

You will be responsible for the management of all analysis, variances and reporting of the GL's within the P&L and Balance Sheet back to the business owners and the Operational Finance Analysts. Ensuring compliance against accounting standards for all transactions within your remit of the accounts and communicating these to finance and non-finance communities. This is a hybrid working role whereby 50% of your role will be office based at our Bury St Edmunds offices and 50% of your week is working on an agile working basis.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensure all transactions are checked and highlighted for variances against budget
  • Production of the monthly accounts for the respective cost centres and balance sheet areas and highlighting to the analyst/Finance business partners where there are areas of concern
  • Ensure that all journals are well documented and understood before posting
  • Management of the respective balance sheet accounts and cost centres and identifying and correcting any anomalies in the accounts
  • Working with the auditors and finance teams to ensure we are audit-compliant
  • Working with the business partners in the respective areas to make sure they are aware of and held accountable for any unusual of out-of-budget costs
  • Identify areas of continual improvement, especially around process automation and reporting standardisation that can save time and improve awareness

About you:
  • Qualified in / or studyingtowards relevant qualifications for the role (or equivalent) AAT orearly stages of CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent. ( Apprenticeships can be offered to those with part qualified or Finance degree level experience/or previous Finance specific experience)
  • Strong Maths and English grades
  • Abilityto understand basic/intermediate accounting principles
  • Competent with Exceland IT literate
  • Comefrom some accounting background either within a shared services function or afinance function
  • Ability to confidently communicate financial information to finance/non-finance people
  • Good analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to challenge and have difficult conversations
  • Team work essential
