What will you be doing?

We're recruiting for a Commercial Finance Manager to support our UK Enterprise business team. The Margin Optimisation role encompasses a broad range of Commercial Finance skills, working cross functionally with other function to drive business performance at pace. The role is to build a programme that captures all margin Optimisation initiatives including both tactical and strategic. This includes capturing and tracking each initiative in a forensic way, driving performance through collaboration and influence with initiative owners, and reporting progress through KPI's and confirmed Value improvement.The role will also act as an independent view on contractual in-life change requests, and give recommendation on investment business cases that are put forward by the business. Overall role objective is to assure the continued improvement of both Margin and Value within UK Enterprise segment, exploring, assessing, and qualifying every opportunity, and being a balanced informed business adviser when supporting Investment/Business Case decisions.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Programme Management: Build a programme of initiatives that drives value and margin over both the sort and long terms. Develop relevant reporting that is structured and granular that can be presented through multiple lenses, i.e Customer, Product, Workstream Type, Strategic vs Tactical
  • Performance Management and Reporting: Build reporting that tracks performance and progress and drive business performance. Be able to provide versatile progress reporting that can be used to drive day to day progress, but also be consolidated to a top level to summarise benefits realisation by differing categories. Create operational and Financial KPI's that allow to benchmark both internally and externally. Ensure the reporting drives margin and value priority for the business and holds relevant stakeholders accountable and informed. The Commercial Finance Manager should be continuously looking to spot further opportunities, ensure the right decisions are made, and working at pace to drive key decisions to action.
  • Financial Analysis & Insight: It is imperative the commercial finance manager fully understands the financial performance and current trends. On a monthly basis, key insight will be provided to the other Commercial Finance managers and business leads in the segment, which consolidates and explains current performance and highlights performance against the Margin Optimisation initiatives. The role should also ensure key KPI's are fully understood.
  • Change Governance (EDRA 5/Credits) & Business Case evaluation: With a deep understanding of Margin and Value drivers the role is required to review and recommend independently on Business proposals and commercial change requests which are submitted. This requires a detailed understanding of the asks, an understanding of potential options and outcomes that lead to a balanced Finance recommendation supported by sound business logic. The role is to challenge where necessary based on the impact to margin and value both over the short term and long term. All lessons from Change both positive and negative and should be recorded and feedback into the pre-sales process and to the wider business inclusive of the relevant Finance Business partner for each of the segments.
Who are we looking for?
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or equivalent commercial experience
  • Presentation & communication skills - interpreting and explaining complex information to senior stakeholders and non-finance teams
  • Telecoms experience would be advantageous
  • Strong delivery focus and ability to prioritise across multiple stakeholder demands.
  • Build relationships and influenced at senior levels within a business across departments
