Job Description

Your future team:

The JPMorgan Chase Internal Audit (IA) Department reports to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and is further accountable to the Chairman and CEO, senior management and regulatory agencies. IA is an independent function established within the organization to evaluate, test and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of management's system of internal control. The global IA Department has in excess of 1,000 auditors based globally in all regions, including Asia. The Asia IA team has an onsite presence in 13 locations namely Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Taipei, Seoul, Mumbai, Bangalore, Shanghai, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Manila.

The CIB Payments Audit Team is responsible for assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment globally across Treasury Services, Merchant Services, Trade and Working Capital and Commercial Card within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) line of business. This is achieved through a program of audit coverage performed and managed by a team of business and technology audit specialists and coordinated on a global basis with colleagues in the regions. In addition, the team is involved in assessing controls over significant projects including business reorganizations and acquisitions, technology developments/conversions, off-shoring and product development.

What you will be responsible for:

The Vice President level auditor position is based in Singapore within the Asia CIB Payments Audit Team. The role will be primarily responsible for coverage of Cash Management, Trade and Merchant Services businesses in the region. The role provides the opportunity to develop a detailed understanding of the CIB businesses, as well as working with stakeholders and audit colleagues in the regional and global Audit teams in developing a strong control environment. The individual will be responsible for maintaining relationships with and providing control related advice to business stakeholders as well as planning, execution and documentation of the results of their work for audits conducted.

The applicant must be a mature and experienced professional who possesses strong auditing skills, knowledge of the Payments business and understanding of diverse internal control systems within a financial institution. A good awareness of related relevant regulations is an advantage. This individual should be a strong team player, able to multi-task, demonstrate project management skills and work under pressure in a dynamic business environment.
  • Self motivated audit professional who can effectively analyse risk and proactively identifies issues.
  • Lead and participate on audit engagements from planning to reporting and produce quality deliverables to both department and professional standards while ensuring audits are completed timely and within budget.
  • Assess the control environment of the banking businesses, with a view to providing recommendations for improvement where emerging issues or weaknesses are identified.
  • Execute audits independently and efficiently, including risk assessment, audit planning, testing, control evaluation, report drafting and follow-up and verification of issue closure. Ensure audits are completed within budget and timelines.
  • Provide senior audit management and internal stakeholders timely updates and insight on the design and effectiveness of business, risk, operation and technology control practices, and thematic firm-wide control and industry developments.
  • Keep abreast of evolving regulatory changes, market events and emerging impacting futures businesses to drive appropriate ongoing audit coverage in close partnership with the wider Audit team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to dynamically changing work environments, including travel to other countries as part of regional audit engagements.
  • Communicate and influence effectively, both orally and in written form, audit results and issues.
  • Foster a business climate and culture that encourages integrity, respect, diversity, excellence and innovation.
  • Identify opportunities to use data analytics to provide audit assurance and insight.

What skills and experiences we are looking for:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Professional qualifications, e.g. ACA, CPA, CIA, CAMS etc.
  • Minimum 8 years internal/external audit or relevant business experience within a financial services organization preferred.
  • Ability to lead audits, work effectively within a matrix organization, manage multiple projects and participate in audit assignments in a team environment.
  • Thorough understanding of internal control concepts and audit methodology with the ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy and effectiveness of controls
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management, and influence change.
  • Proven ability to be able to multi-task, complete projects on time and on budget, and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and willing to take personal responsibility/accountability.
  • Works well individually and in teams, shares information and supports colleagues.
  • Knowledge of automated auditing tools considered a plus
  • Flexible in a dynamic work environment, including potential travel (20%) to other countries in future as part of regional audit engagements.
  • Willing to travel as needed
