We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world.

We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high‑growth businesses that fuel the economy – and directly advise the owners and management teams leading them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

Our Shared Service Centre team (SSC) provides essential support to a number of teams across our firm. As well as assisting on large-scale operations, beyond the capacity of a core specialist team, they provide the unparalleled expertise we need to keep moving forward. As part of this friendly department, you’ll have the chance to work on exciting projects and develop your skillset. There’s real opportunity, making it a great chance to use industry knowledge and experience to solve problems in your next career step, or it can be a place to learn if you’re just starting out. If you want to work on important projects and explore your potential, we’ll give you the friendly, supportive working environment to go far.

We’ll help you succeed

Leading organisations trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality grows from a thorough understanding of their business, and that understanding comes from working closely with them and building long-lasting relationships.

You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

Overview:

The firm is looking to recruit an Accounts Associate to join the Accounts Hub based in central Liverpool. This team is one of several Hubs within BDO’s rapidly growing Shared Service Centre (SSC). SSC team members work internally within the business providing support to the client facing members of the firm.

SSC Associates work on the timely delivery of services maintaining the highest quality of output at all times. • Support national audit and advisory teams with review and quality assurance of statutory accounts prepared under UK reporting standards.
  • Monitor throughput, productivity, and accuracy of team members’ output.
  • Work extensively with BDO’s proprietary workflow tools.
  • Deliver quality assurance outputs to agreed timescale, quality and volume.
  • Deal with internal queries with colleagues and teams across BDO UK.
  • Formally train junior colleagues.
  • Act as a people manager for junior team members, setting and reviewing goals.
  • Seek to be involved in projects outside your primary role when opportunities arise.

Technical requirements and professional skills:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with either a relevant finance or accounting degree or experience of working in a practice environment.
  • Experience of preparing statutory accounts under UK reporting standards for manager review.
  • Knowledge of using accounts production packages is required. Full training on CaseWare will be provided.
  • Experience of training junior members of staff.
  • Experience of managing junior members of staff is desirable however training programmes are available and will be provided.
  • Willingness to get involved in ad hoc activities from time to time.
  • IT skills - strong working knowledge of MS Excel, other MS products and similar desktop applications. Willingness to learn new systems is essential
  • Well presented with a professional level of communication – both verbal and written
  • Good time management, organisation skills and the ability to prioritise and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Energised, enthusiastic and results orientated.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to use own initiative and take a flexible approach.
  • No professional training contract is provided with this role. However, the SSC does have a limited study support package available to those studying towards ACCA/AAT. Ongoing training is provided to meet role specific needs.

You’ll be able to be yourself; we’ll recognise and value you for who you are and celebrate and reward your contributions to our business. We’re committed to agile working, and we offer everyone the opportunity to work in ways that suit them, their teams, and the task ati hand.
