Finance Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join an established company in Oxford on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave.

Client Details

My client is a specialist in ground-breaking research and innovations. They are looking for a Finance Manager on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave. You will report directly into the Head of Finance and be responsible for 3 direct reports, to ensure month end deadlines are understood and achieved. You will also oversee the management of a team of 13 staff including the day-to-day financial administration. This team comprises of 10 Assistants and 3 Finance Officers.

My client are based in Headington will limited parking so you will need to have access by public transport or park and ride.

Description

Finance Manager responsibilities:

* The post-holder will provide team development, including training/mentoring/coaching
* Identify training gaps to develop individuals and encourage team professionalism through AAT or similar qualifications
* Ensure effective communication within the team by holding regular team and individual meetings
* Monitor the team's performance against agreed KPIs and provide updates to the Head of Finance
* Manage projects and service improvement initiatives
* Create and deliver training sessions aimed at shoppers and those involved in finance activities
* Contribute and develop SOP's in line with the companies Finance regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring SOPs are approved by the Head of Finance
* Proactively identify areas for improvement, ensuring consistency across the department, adopting best practice from within the company and across the sector
* Support the Departments overseas programmes in financial procedures and to determine how the companies Finance Centre can effectively support their operations
* Optimise team efficiencies by changing ways of working and better utilisation of systems. Whenever possible automate processes
* Be involved in Central Finance projects to influence outcomes and prepare the team for change
* Submit annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
* Provide variance analysis where appropriate

Profile

The successful Finance manager experience/skills:
* AAT qualified, or similar level accounting qualification
* Significant experience of working in a relevant financial administration role, including experience of working with computerised financial systems
* Experience of effectively line managing and developing a team of staff
* Computer literate with experience of utilising MS Office, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Excellent communication skills with a wide range of people - both internal and external - at all levels, both verbally and in writing
* Experience of analysing financial data, and using this to prepare financial reports for senior managers within the department
