They will partner across stakeholder groups to enhance risk, control and operational management capabilities, improve the efficacy of the control environment and better respond to regulatory guidance/mandates through the implementation of uniform governance and risk management practices.

The team you will be joining is a part of State Street Global Delivery (SSGD). SSGD gives asset owners and managers access to the essential financial tools they need to deliver effective investment solutions. From core custody, accounting, fund administration and shareholder recordkeeping, to complete operations solutions and servicing for alternative assets like OTC derivatives, private equity and real estate, SSGD’ tools help our clients make better investment choices and act on growth opportunities. SSGD is undergoing significant transformation having embarked on a multi-year strategy to simplify our operating model, optimise technology increasing end-to-end automation, while strengthening resiliency and controls across our global functions which include Middle Office, Alternatives, Derivatives, Fund Accounting, Custody, Corporate Actions, Income and Client Service. The current remit of SSGD Business Risk Management (BRM) includes Assurance, Risk, Controls and Assessment activities, Business Continuity, Governance, Operational Risk Management and incident analysis, Compliance Program implementation, Risk Metrics, Event Management, Policy and regulatory change and Information Security. It is essential to have a comprehensive and connected approach to risk oversight and securing the control environment, providing challenge and support to the business in ensuring that heightened change execution risk and operational risk is efficiently communicated, managed and mitigated.

What you will be responsible for

As Business Risk Manager Functional Lead GD Simplification you will

  • Provide risk oversight, challenge and independent assurance across the portfolio of change programmes, working alongside BRM functional leads, business partners and change partners to direct, influence and co-ordinate relevant risk management activities.
  • Collaborate with BRM functional leads, business and change partners to influence and monitor the governance and management of operational risks, ensuring prompt escalation of keys risks and control issues, devising and recommending solutions to mitigate and remediate risks outside of tolerance.
  • Build awareness of and visibility to the GD change portfolio within GD BRM global team. Partner with BRM functional leads, business and change teams in reviewing, monitoring and reporting on the holistic risk impact of the GD change portfolio, risk mitigation activities and realisation of risk reduction benefits across the portfolio.
  • Work alongside BRM functional leads, business and change partners to ensure that there is fit for purpose reporting structure in place which incorporates management metrics to identity risk themes, provide actionable risk insights and reporting needed for informed and decisive data driven decision making.
  • Collaborate with BRM functional leads to provide a mix of embedded assurance and formal risk opinion, health-check and/or deep dive - identifying opportunities for improvements in the end-to-end process and control environment.
  • Provide guidance on design and application of key controls, procedures and best practices.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Financial Services background in operational risk and control management within FLOD, SLOD or Audit with a strong understanding of programme/project risk management.
  • An excellent understanding of investor servicing key operational process for one of more or these core GD operations disciplines - Middle Office, Alternatives, Derivatives, Fund Accounting, Custody, Corporate Actions, Income and Client Service.
  • Proven experience of positive, constructive and challenging interactions with senior management.
  • Collaborative and ability to influence, obtain buy in and drive implementation of decisions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to facilitate and resolve conflicts, make informed risk optimized decisions under time pressure, able to navigate and co-ordinate seamlessly across the global organization and bring people together to achieve business objectives.
  • Display can do attitude with willingness to roll up sleeves in order to get things done.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, able to multi-task under pressure and with a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will be a change agent and drive issues toward resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Disseminating complex information to internal and external stakeholders and ensuring key messages and their implications are understood.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent.
  • More than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Salary Range:

  • $110,000 - $185,000 Annual
