The person will report to the Head of Tax department and will be responsible for all indirect tax matter of the Company, of the foreign branches, subsidiaries and India project offices of other Group companies.

Our client is a leading European MNC in the EPC space with a global turnover of 5 Billion Euros. They are currently looking to hire an individual to head their Indirect Tax function.
Description
Head of Indirect Tax (Senior Manager)
The candidate is expected to have a deep knowledge of currently operative Indirect Tax Laws, a background to handling matters under erstwhile Indirect Tax Laws and it is desirable a reasonable knowledge of Customs Act, Foreign Trade Policy and allied Commercial & Economic Legislations. The person will interact with the tax department of the Parent company as well as of the other group companies.
- To support Commercial Department during bidding phase in order to analyze the Tender Documents in general and in particular with special emphasis on Indirect tax aspect of the contracts, proposing for optimized tax structure;
- To support Procurement Department during the finalization of the Purchase Order and/or Sub-Contracts that involve Local Vendors from various States within India as well as Foreign Vendors or Indian Branches / Project Offices of Foreign Vendors, reviewing the structure of the transaction from Indirect tax perspective. Also for Vendors located in SEZ / FTWZ area;
- To update the concerned Departments within the Organization regarding new changes brought in to force by Union Budget, Notifications / Circulars pertaining to Indirect taxation and their impact on business decisions / transaction documentation and processing;
- To initiate and lead the changes that may be required in the presently operative systems and /or the internal process in order to comply with the change in the Indirect tax laws and regulations issued by Central / State Government from time to time and to coordinate with the concerned / affected Departments within the Organization for a timely and smooth implementation;
- To handling Indirect tax compliances under GST for filing monthly and annual returns & timely depositing Tax - for the states in which GST registrations are in force;
- To coordinate with local GST Consultants;
- To manage the litigation with the support of external consultants that are engaged for representing the Company on various matters related to Indirect tax. Briefing counsels and consultants about the on-going matters under litigation and support them during the hearing / proceedings;
- To manage regular dealing activities with Indirect tax authorities for various matters like coordinating for Departmental Audits, pursuing pending refunds and Inquiries / Investigation;
- Coordinating with AFC department for retrieving details required for Departmental Audit / Indirect tax assessments and making it presentable to authorities;
- Reviewing the assessment orders / show cause notices issued by Indirect Tax Authorities and filing appeals;
- Proposing proper accounting entries for the transactions related to Indirect taxation;
- Tax planning study regarding potential M&A transactions - indirect tax implications (if any), and any other non-recurring activities to reduce the tax burden for the Group and the Organization.
Profile
An ideal candidate should have the experience below.
- CA with 10-15 years of experience
- Industry- Heavy manufacturing, EPC
- Experience in Customs Act, Foreign Trade Policy and allied Commercial & Economic Legislations.
