The job: Associate Accountant

We have an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Associate Accountant to join our team of qualified finance professionals based in Paisley. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding European finance team in an organisation considered a global leader in its field which offers great career support, development and opportunities.
The centre provides financial controllership in the region across various Thermo Fisher Scientific groups, including Life Sciences Solutions, Special Diagnostics and Laboratory Products. Currently we are responsible for a large number of entities reporting a total of $2 Billion of revenue per year.

What will you do?

• Providing analysis and commentaries of monthly performance
• Ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of monthly closing activities
• Preparing accounting entries
• Performing balance sheet account reconciliations - researching and resolving any reconciling items on a monthly basis
• Management reporting to Corporate through Hyperion
• Working cross functionally with the other finance and non-finance teams based both on site and remotely
• Preparing and submitting of government and other agency returns
• Ensuring compliance with Corporate Accounting policies, procedures and controls (Sarbanes-Oxley Act)

Who we are looking for:

• Experience of month end reporting, management accounting, balance sheet reconciliations
• Prior exposure to statutory accounts, tax & VAT returns would be advantageous
• Ability to prioritise and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment
• Ability to work well under time constraints
• Proficient in MS Excel
• Working knowledge of ERPs (SAP) (Desired but not essential)
