Overview

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a key role within the Operational Finance department. The main component of this role is to manage the Reporting process across the business, engage the business in this process and to track and ensure accurate Financial Reporting is provided to Group Finance and the wider teams.

This is a hybrid role, where you'll be based in our Head Office in Yeovil 3 days a week, working flexibly around the core office hours of 10am-3pm.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall month end close process for multiple entities, co-ordinating and managing teams within finance to ensure that accurate and timely reporting is produced.
  • Overseeing the intercompany process with Kingfisher, including owning the transfer pricing arrangements currently in place.
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts, with supporting analysis & commentary to inform decision making. This includes ensuring integrity, consistency and accuracy across reporting produced by Screwfix finance teams.
  • Ensure that Screwfix are compliant with Group Accounting policies and requirements, including assessing new business initiatives for compliance, as well as being the Screwfix lead for technical queries from Kingfisher.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and full year Group reporting submissions, including providing insightful and accurate commentary to accompany reporting provided into Group.
  • Lead and develop a small team, demonstrating best practice and supporting team members as they progress professionally.
  • Lead project accounting point of contact for Screwfix, being the key point of contact for new and emerging initiatives - ensuring that Financial Control is involved from the outset and that the business is mindful of reporting and control requirements.
  • You will work alongside key stakeholders ensuring the business is compliant with its obligations (including external audit & Group reporting guidelines).
  • Highly developed prioritisation and delegation skills to enable various tasks to be completed accurately, on time and to a high standard.
  • Support senior leadership with ad-hoc projects and subject matter expertise as required


Qualifications

  • Communication & Influence - must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to gain the respect and attention of all levels of management

  • Decision making - Takes the initiative, driving results and ruthlessly prioritising, Proactively finds improvement opportunities and brings fresh ideas
  • Person should be qualified ACA or ACCA or CIMA with financial accounting background and 2 years+ PQE experience.
  • Experience in retail or FMCG beneficial
  • Attention to detail / strong analytical skills / ability to rapidly understand business operations and the inherent risks
  • Commercial awareness; understand the impact on business and those of their team
  • Ability to communicate difficult messages in a balanced way and work with all levels
  • Ability to identify risk based and pragmatic solutions
  • Not afraid to tackle conflict or confront others when problems occur.
