Role/ Department:

Northern Trust is recruiting for a Senior Auditor to join the Audit Services function to focus on audits of Northern Trust's asset servicing activities. The role offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the enhancement and further growth of the global Audit Services team. Through engagement with other team members, you will design and lead the end-to-end execution of audit engagements. Success is measured by the comprehensiveness of the workpapers, quality of the audit reports, timeliness of the deliveries, mentoring of junior staff, contributing to team process enhancements, and your ability to foster relationships both internally in the audit department and with key stakeholders. Based in London, the role is a direct report to a London based Associate Audit Director.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Conduct complex, cross-functional, technically difficult, and high risk audit engagements throughout the Northern Trust Asset Servicing business area with appropriate attention to detail and within assigned timeframes
  • Lead audit project teams, including being accountable that the audit engagement meets stated objectives and timeframes and adheres to professional internal audit standards and internal department policies and standards
  • Allocation of responsibilities to the audit team and responsible to review team member’s work for accuracy and completion
  • Application of analytical skills to review information, performs assessments of the audit results, and evaluates the adequacy of controls.
  • Actively communicates the audit status to business unit and Audit Services management and is responsible for compiling findings and recommendations for the purpose of status updates, memos, and audit reports.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports identifying the risks and findings on key areas of focus; work with key stakeholders to develop solutions and agree on action plans to enhance controls and risk management
  • Follow up on, challenge and validate closure of management action plans
  • Provides training, coaching, and auditing expertise to junior staff

Skills/ Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Proven experience gained within internal audit, external audit, monitoring or testing functions in a financial institution or consulting environment, in conjunction with relevant experience in asset servicing activities and related knowledge of the regulatory environment
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) are preferable but not mandatory
  • Ability to work independently, engage with senior stakeholders, and work in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with internal audit applications such as Teammate is advantageous
  • Ability to adapt and react positively in a changing and dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Experience in identifying opportunities to utilize data analytics methodologies
