We are currently seeking an experienced VAT Accountant to join our global technology client based near Reading on a permanent basis.

Description

The VAT Accountant will support activity within Europe and meet VAT compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions. In addition, the position will provide support to the monthly closing activity, which may include supporting one or more European subsidiaries.

Key tasks will include:

• Preparing and filing UK, Ireland and OSS VAT returns
• Work with professional service providers to file German and French VAT returns, Intrastat filings and EC Sales lists (previous experience filing VAT returns for Germany & France is not essential for this role)

• Support the AR group to resolve VAT queries and direct correction requirements

• Assist with ongoing VAT projects to correct and improve quality of VAT determination, billing and reporting.

• Support period close activities of one or more local subsidiaries (including Local GAAP / US GAAP)

• Payroll checking

• Invoice approval

• Assist in preparing and consolidating European cashflow reports

Profile

We are keen to hear from candidates with:

• Familiarity with VAT in the UK and at least one European country

• Familiarity with accounting processes and current accounting standards

• Good knowledge of Microsoft office packages including a high level of Excel knowledge.

• Excellent communication skills.

Job Offer

The salary will be up to around £55,000 and there is a car allowance + additional bonuses also on offer for the successful applicant.

The company offers a hybrid working model (2-3 days working from home).
