Position Overview

The Global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team at State Street provides enterprise leadership for State Street’s ESG program, including strategy, policy, disclosure, governance, partnerships, and climate. The team is seeking an individual to support State Street’s ESG corporate reporting and disclosure responsibilities and activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • ESG Data Management
    • Develop expertise in the frameworks State Street uses to measure and disclose ESG activities, including the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
    • Create the structure for a single source of ESG-related data using an external data platform
    • Oversee and manage ESG data collection and input process for the annual ESG report
    • Ensure quality controls and appropriate sign-offs are achieved and documented to support the firm’s governance standards
    • Advance efforts to source and document data lineage
  • Regulatory Requirements
    • Develop knowledge of expected regulatory requirements for climate data disclosures
    • Support the VP, ESG Reporting and Disclosure in in planning related to State Street’s wider disclosures on ESG
  • Climate Office
    • As we establish a State Street Climate Office, support that work as it relates to data, reporting and disclosures
  • RFPs/ DDQs
    • Support the development of our ESG business through RFPs and DDQs; Build the RFP database with new questions and answers
  • Industry surveys and index provider relationships
    • Manage State Street’s submissions to industry surveys and ESG index providers such as Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, experience in financial services preferred
  • 7 – 10 years of related experience
  • Strong interest in ESG, climate data, and corporate reporting standards
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks, including SASB, GRI, TCFD is preferred
  • Strong project management and execution skills
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations to achieve business objectives and work across various business units
  • Ability to manage data and ensure organizational compliance with high standards of data governance
  • Self-starter with strong initiative
