Summary 

This individual will be responsible for providing  operational support for the Vendor Management Program by facilitating, developing an contributing to effective vendor management for a portfolio of vendors at Northern Trust. This role will interact with vendor managers as well as other internal teams involved in the TPRM (Third Party Risk Management) program in activities such as formulating goals, objectives, and timelines; collaborating with management to understand requirements; and analyzing market and industry conditions.

Uses expertise to provide guidance to others as a project manager or consultant. Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline. Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes and clients. Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

The key responsibilities of the role include: 

Major Duties

  • Responsible for performing ongoing monitoring activities for HR vendors for an assigned region to ensure compliance with the requirements of the NT TPRM (Third Party Risk Management) program
  • Facilitate meetings with assigned region vendor managers on all aspects of the TPRM program and consult on required templates/documents
  • Track, follow up, and monitor timely completion of the required TPRM documents by regional BU vendor managers
  • Conduct periodic training sessions to assigned region BU vendor managers on the requirements and changes to the NT TPRM program
  • Perform Quality Control/Audits (QC/A) and activities required for review & approval by either internal to the team or by the TPRM program
  • Assist with resolving regional escalated issues and monitor timely resolution by BU vendor managers
  • Perform reporting to BU Senior Management and other NT internal groups on the status, issues and risks of the program for the assigned region.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills with the ability to generate complex reports on a regular and ad hoc basis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change in a high demand environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as data analytic tools including PowerBI
  • Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own job discipline
  • Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work
  • Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations

Experience  Required

  • A College/University degree in Supply Chain, Finance or Risk and/or other appropriate academic major is preferred,  or the equivalent 3-5 years of  procurement operations/buyer/customer service experience; experience with a public accounting firm and/or a supplier management / vendor management environment is preferred.
  • Provides informal guidance to new team members
