Role/ Department:

Responsible for leading the effective coordination of EMEA core Compliance deliverables inclusive of the management of the EMEA Regulatory Liaison Office

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Advises business partners, including senior stakeholders on the regulatory interaction and applicable standards set when interacting with Regulators;
  • Develop and own the UK Regulatory Relationship Standard and oversees its implementation as required across the region
  • Act as a central point of contact for the UK regulators, business, and wider Compliance stakeholders for UK regulatory issues
  • Monitors and reacts to regulatory publications relating to thematic reviews and findings which may affect the Northern Trust business in EMEA
  • Acts as a note taker for senior stakeholder meetings as needed
  • Identifies improvements to benefit the wider EMEA Compliance sphere to ensure a best-in-class service is provided to all stakeholders
  • Lead all UK regulatory visits end to end
  • Oversee the collation of EMEA wide metrics, identifying trends and managing the onward reporting requirements in the global compliance and legal entity structure
  • Coordinate the prompt submission of regulatory reporting requirements to the Global Regulatory Office
  • Lead an offshore team of two responsible for: (non-exhaustive) the collation of management information/fee invoice execution/SUP16 reporting obligations/Collate Compliance Management Information e.g. governance material and breach reporting/general administrative tasks required to support the Regulatory Liaison Office and wider remit of the Head of UK and Mainland EMEA Compliance
  • Serve as a subject matter expert resource within a broader team of Legal entity Compliance Officers and develop and operationalise processing efficiencies to benefit the broader regional Compliance function
  • Check, challenge, advise and submit all SMCR applications made on behalf of the Asset Servicing Legal entities and act as the Compliance contact for the EMEA Conduct Office

Skills/ Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment the UK Asset Servicing entities operate in
  • Relationship Management skills
  • Ability to write in a concise and accurate manner
  • Understanding of the FCA Connect tool and PRA BEEDs Portal
  • Solution driven and a strategic thinker with a focus on developing operational efficiencies across the Compliance structure
  • Prior experience working in a regulatory relationship capacity advantageous
  • Prior team management skills and middle management experience preferred
  • Compliance/Risk and or operational experience preferred
