Job Summary
The Financial Analyst/Cost Accounting Intern is responsible for assisting with Merrill's business goals. Successful intern will audit current financial reporting, develop and analyze variance reporting, conduct and prepare cost test plans, assist with the physical year-end inventory counts, and review and enhance the standard costing process to ensure accurate product costing as Merrill delivers products that meet our customers' needs. The Cost Accounting Intern will also be working closely with the Supply Chain Department to implement reporting around efficiency and manufacturing processes. In addition, the intern is given the opportunity to apply skills and gain an understanding of the Merrill organization and processes. This position will provide analytical support and gather Merrill business data to better understand how to strategically execute on business goals.

Work Responsibilities & Duties
- Review and Audit key financial reporting used to measure the company's progress
- Enhance the Standard Costing Process
- Implementation of Advanced Work Order Reporting and WIP
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be a sophomore or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

- Must have exceptional analytical skills and be able to work with complex sets of data
- Detail oriented with ability work with speed and accuracy
- Results focused, acts decisively, displays initiative
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with various levels and departments within the organization

- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel
