Summary of the Position:

The Accounting Manager-Specialist is responsible for overseeing certain key finance related processes including primary responsibility for the accounting and reporting of certain stand-alone entities, overall program management of SOX compliance, tax coordination and separate stand-alone tax compliance and other general accounting duties as well. This position reports to the Controller.

Primary Functions of the Position:
  • Serve as Finance lead for duties associated with 1) accounting and reporting for stand-alone holding company and other separate entities, 2) providing overall day-to-day project management of SOX compliance including process, risk and control documentation, 3) serving as the Finance liaison with the lines of business having SOX relevant processes/controls, 4) evaluating, concluding and documenting SOX matters, and 5) In conjunction with Controller and parent company internal/external tax experts, managing efforts to comply with local and state tax/government reporting and filing requirements
  • Assist with tax related journal entries, reconcilements, and related documentation
  • Assist with system implementations and process changes to ensure appropriate consideration of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Serve as the Finance department coordinator for all internal/external audits


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Prepares/reviews support for a variety of SEC and/or regulatory filings as required
  • Serves as backup to other accounting managers for various departmental processes (e.g., review approve journal entries, reconciliations, SEC disclosures, regulatory reporting, etc.)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned


Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management
  • 4 to 6 years of hands-on independent problem-solving, project management, and analysis experience in the finance, accounting, or auditing areas
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley ("SOX") control requirements
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws/accounting preferred but demonstrated desire/ability to learn in these areas will suffice
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
