We're currently recruiting for an Accounting Manager (Reinsurance Accounting) to join our Special Projects accounting team. The role will lead the reinsurance accounting elements of projects and change initiatives including the implementation of new reinsurance treaties, data and system migrations and the delivery of operational accounting solutions. The role will have lead a team of approx. 8 FTE.
Salary: Up to £80,000, circa 30 - 60% bonus, 10% pension, 38 days holiday and other benefits

We're currently recruiting for an Accounting Manager (Reinsurance Accounting) to join our Special Projects accounting team to provide leadership and accountancy advice to ensure the organisation meets its regulatory, reputational and commercial requirements.
The role will lead the Life Finance accounting delivery of reinsurance accounting project, providing leadership for the area and implementing the target operating model. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accounting solutions to support both the Open and Heritage Businesses - partnering with project managers and key SMEs to deliver a portfolio of change activity for the Life Finance accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional accountancy advice to senior stakeholders to inform business strategy and manage delivery core outcomes.
- Maintain a high level of accountancy knowledge and understanding of multiple different reporting bases (e.g. IFRS, S2) in order to ensure a comprehensive consultancy service can be provided to business decision makers.
- Lead analysis of complex business data to provide reinsurance accounting recommendations for new initiatives/ventures.
- Lead the provision of accountancy input into the development of reinsurance processes to ensure that processes incorporate current legislation and reflect developments in industry standards where relevant.
- To lead the processes to identify continuous improvement opportunities including the design and oversight of appropriate quality assurance controls to ensure the accuracy and validity of the Company's financial information.
- Drive the implementation of the reinsurance target operating model for accounting.
- Lead delivery of designated accounting activity throughout the project change cycle including accounting requirements captured, reviewed, appropriate scope, validated against IT designs and implemented into BAU efficiently and effectively.
- Managing, motivating and developing a team of c.8 to ensure they continue to deliver excellence against a background of continual fast paced internal and external change.
- Provide input into the governance frameworks and adherence.
- Support the setting of the strategy within the area.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Qualified accountant or qualified by experience life company accountant with considerable post-qualified experience.
- Experience of finance operational change ideally within a life insurer or equivalent.
- Able to demonstrate a good level of understanding of key finance reporting processes, finance systems, technical skills, data, risks and controls within a Financial Services organisation or equivalent
- Leadership experience - able to drive staff to a common goal whilst holding them accountable for day to day delivery
- Lead stakeholder management across multiple sites and teams to drive the outcome required.
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, to build networks across accounting and the wider business;
- Strong task ownership, through excellent organisational skills and a diligent approach;
- Communicating complex accounting procedures and principles with multiple stakeholders across the business and influencing outcomes.
