Role

NEWLY CREATED POSITION – With continued Firm growth, both domestically and abroad, we are adding a new position reporting to our Accounting Manager to assist with various operational, finance, accounting & reporting functions.  The ideal candidate will have experience in the financial services industry, or experience in the public accounting sector, auditing financial services clients. This individual should possess sound technical accounting skills, a strong work ethic, analytical ability, good judgment, and a strong operational focus. We are seeking a well-organized and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.

 

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the duties include:

 

-REVENUE RECONCILIATION – Lead revenue reconciliation process, this role will work with our experienced team of professionals, working closely with our operations and trading personnel and outside clearing firms in performing daily reconciliations and revenue and expense verification.

 

-ACCOUNTS PAYABLE – Complete AP process, including tracking invoices, maintaining invoice files, entering invoices to QuickBooks, sending approved invoices for affiliates to outside admin/verify correct booking, and maintaining the monthly expense accruals.

 

-GENERAL LEDGER MAINTENANCE – Rolling forward and maintaining monthly journal entries for three entities.

 

-BANK RECONCILIATIONS – On a monthly basis.

 

-ANNUAL AUDITS – Assist with the annual audits of three entities, including financial statement and footnote preparation, auditor document requests, testing, internal control walkthroughs, etc.

 

-COMPLIANCE and OPERATIONS—assist the Chief Compliance Officer with some compliance activities around customer due diligence and on-boarding, and assist the Operations group with conversion activity

 

Skills/Experience

 

The ideal candidate would:

 

  • Have 1-2 years of applicable experience and not be afraid to dive into the detail!
  • Be detail oriented and creative in identifying ways we can streamline our current processes. Have an advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks or other accounting software.
  • Be an independent, self-starter with the ability to plan and prioritize work schedule based on accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Have a keen attention to detail with an analytical ability to ensure the accuracy of financial information.
  • Have the ability to effectively present financial data and information to Senior Management.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, some experience in public accounting and/or the financial services industry. Experience using QuickBooks and Microsoft Office products. Fixed income knowledge or experience is useful but not required. CPA license preferable but not required. This candidate will be expected to obtain his/her FINRA Series 27 securities license.
