Role Purpose
The position of Accounting Lead Analyst sits within the European Finance Accounting Team, which is part of the centralised European Finance Department split over our Glasgow / Greenock / Antwerp / Madrid sites.
This role will be based in Glasgow and will report to the Statutory Accounting Manager. The team is responsible for all statutory and regulatory reporting for our UK/Europe managed Companies as well as managing the year end audits for these entities. Responsibility for communicating results to the various Branch Committees and Boards also sits within the team.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the preparation of the Statutory Financial Statements for a number of European legal entities, primarily the European Expense Services entity (under UK FRS102);
- Liaise with the Auditors through the external year end audit process, ensuring adherence to the external reporting timetable;
- Lead the timely preparation of quarterly Management Accounts with all required consolidation adjustments and accompanying analysis and illustrative remarks;
- Provide relevant and accurate financial and operational analysis as required, preparing various packs for presentation to Board and other stakeholders & committees;
- Prepare Solvency II regulatory reporting pack with additional analysis and commentary for internal group consolidation;
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of Financial Statements and Management accounts of Belgian Insurance entities, as well as
- Responsible for investigating and resolving technical accounting matters;
- Proactively help to drive forward process and procedure improvements;
- Participation in ad-hoc projects
Experience Required
- Qualified accountant/qualified by experience.
- Good working knowledge of current FRS102.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Results oriented individual with a drive for continuous improvement and proven success in achieving goals.
- Stakeholder Focus - dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external stakeholders, good at building effective relationships and gaining trust and respect.
- Team player who has a "hands on" approach to achieving results and is willing to work in the broader finance team, as required, in order to achieve departmental objectives.
- Problem Solving - ability to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Financial analysis skills with the ability to take the initiative in developing a strong understanding of the underlying business.
- Strong reporting and analytical skills with ability to create and improve reporting packs and methodologies.
