The position

A new and exciting role as Finance manager has been created at SHARE and we are looking for someone with the skills, competency, drive, desire and more importantly, personality to fill this position.

Principally, the successful applicant will have responsibility for managing all day to day accounting operations, will prepare management and annual accounts, budgets, and other financial and cashflow forecasts as required. However, a varied workload can be expected and, as any finance controller should have control of their own department, this role will involve you devising and implementing relevant polices for the department to make sure you are in full control.

There may even be an opportunity to deliver training to staff or the SHARE membership on the finance skills that you excel in.

You will be part or newly qualified but having the ability to use spreadsheets and accounting software is essential. You must also be able to demonstrate that you have the ability to work at a strategic level and influence decisions as well as having a track record of delivering results in a demanding environment.

Primary responsibilities

Managing all day to day accounting operations - this usually includes Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition

To assist SHARE’s business units in providing an efficient and effective service to clients, including generation of invoices and reconciliation of payments.

Co-ordinating the preparation of budget and financial forecasting and reporting any variances

Working at a senior level as part of a professional team servicing a broad ranging portfolio of accounting activities.

Preparing and delivering regular reports timely to board members and senior management on detailed financial statements, budget forecasts, monthly financial statements, management accounts, quarterly budgets and cash flow statements.

Attending regular meetings with the board and senior management to discuss the general financial health and liquidity of the organisation.

Creating reports regularly which identifies results, trends and forecasts.

To undertake business unit engagements where so directed ensuring quality and accuracy.

Responsible for payroll

To keep up to date the records for SHARE with Companies House, OSCR, ICO and any other such regulatory body as required.

Making sure reporting meets compliant standards with statutory law and financial regulations.

Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls. Streamlining and improving all operations and accounting systems.

Coordinating the management of cash flow, debt and debt collection.

Supervising and managing financial department staff

Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required.

Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes.

Person specification

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting role (E)

Relevant qualification or part qualified (E)

Additional experience in areas such as company secretarial, corporate governance would be desirable but not essential as training will be provided (D)

Experience of working in a team and working in partnership across business teams (E)

Ability to think laterally and imaginatively to seek to enhance the service provided to clients (D)

Experience of payroll processing (E)

Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities (E)

Knowledge of accounting packages Xero (E)

Knowledge of CRM systems (E)

Knowledge of IT systems (E)
