The Senior Consultant, Risk Management and Insurance Services post, reporting through Northern Trust Services, Corporate & Shared Services Group will aid in the strategic planning, development, organization, execution, implementation, data gathering and application of the Northern Trust suite of corporate insurance programs. The Senior Consultant will manage/maintain property lists, tracks assets, and communicate with internal partners regarding insurance provisions in leases, vendor service agreements (collaborating with Procurement as necessary) and ensure insurance compliance with local regulatory bodies. The individual will collaborate with regional budget liaisons to ensure insurance premiums are allocated to appropriate cost centers. He/she will serve as a local point of contact to collect underwriting data, compare insurance coverage terms and conditions, and review quotes and policies for accuracy. The Senior Consultant will work with insurance brokerage representatives and intermediaries and may be called upon to explain insurance terms/concepts/conditions to local Northern Trust partners. The ideal candidate may assume escalating responsibilities based on performance, aptitude, and business needs.

The Senior Consultant will also be responsible for the program administration, risk identification and procurement of insurance policies arranged exclusively for the Northern Trust Real Estate and Guardianship Services business operations. In this role, he/she will interface with asset managers and senior analysts from across the four regions within the Northern Trust Wealth Management business unit.

Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Assist with the insurance renewal activities with insurance broker
  • Maintain insurance schedule and updates underwriting data for changes
  • Collaborates with internal (Northern Trust Finance) and external (brokers/insurers) to ensure insurance coverages are invoiced and paid in a timely basis
  • Advise insurers of incidents and potential claims pursuant to policy provisions
  • Serve as an in-house risk management/insurance resource for Northern Trust business unit managers and partners
  • Review property reports, verify insurance coverage for accuracy, and confirm inclusion on Master Global insurance programs as needed
Required Skills:
  • 5 - 7 year's experienceinthe insurance industry
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare clear, comprehensive, analytical written and verbal reports for senior management
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to analyze and interpret contract language, including insurance policy provisions
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, review alternatives, and develop sound recommendations
  • Ability to execute projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Possess working knowledge of MS office (MS Word, MS Excel and Powerpoint) applications
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks from start to finish
