THE ROLE

We are looking for a home-based/remote freelance/self-employed qualified CPA/ACCA candidate in the Philippines with accountancy practice operations experience able to think out of the box and with a firm grasp of business needs to act as ASSISTANT FINANCE OFFICER and become a team player working in co-ordination with the leadership team of the A.C.T. group. This is an internal Finance Team role to support the Deputy Finance Manager. The candidate will assist in controlling and maintaining all financial areas of the business.  This position is an excellent opportunity to carry out a high-profile role, work directly with an experienced manager and the leadership team of a well-run and good quality business, as well as forge a long-term career with great progression. The individual will need to be available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm (UK time).

 

The key objectives of the role are:

  • Varied and hands on role, ensuring that the daily accounting operations of the group are operating effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist in managing the WIP, Billing, A/R, A/P/, GL, Cost accounting, departmental/cost centre reporting, inventory accounting, revenue recognition.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end and other periodical close processes.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly management accounts and relating reporting and analysis including planning and financial forecasts and report variances from actuals.
  • Bookkeeping duties including bank reconciliations, customer/ supplier statement reconciliations and posting accounting adjustments.
  • Assist in managing the purchase to pay processes and preparing supplier payments, including negotiating with suppliers.
  • Assist in handling the bookkeeping postings such as purchase, sales, bank, and payroll Journals.
  • Assist in handling monthly inter co. reconciliation with subsidiary companies and other associate companies.
  • Assist in handling and finalization of the quarterly UK VAT returns, monthly management accounts and preparation of Year-end financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of Corporation Tax Computations.
  • Assist in the preparation of Consolidated Financial Statements.
  • Respond quickly to, as well as anticipate client or team requests/needs, keep stakeholders informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintain regular contact with clients and teams in regards to billing and cashing.
  • Liaise with HMRC, Companies House, clients, banks, suppliers and other professionals.
  • Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep all parties informed of overruns.
  • Ensure that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to Improve and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Take ownership of any upcoming systems implementation with subsequent process improvements Identify and notify the team of risk and technical matters, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
  • Research technical accounting and tax issues.
  • Provide overall compliance and technical support.
  • Ensure the group’s client databases are kept up to date.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks and projects as directed by the manager or the leadership team.

 

Knowledge, skills & qualifications

 

  • A minimum of 5 years proven experience working in a Top 10 accounting firm or as an Assistant Finance Officer within a multinational firm with cost centre splits/departmental accounting.
  • ACA or ACCA or CPA qualified or internationally recognized equivalent.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (double-entry).
  • IFRS / UK GAAP (FRS 102 and FRS 101) knowledge essential.
  • Experience of working under UK environment desirable with a knowledge of UK VAT, CIS and Payroll.
  • Accounts production experience essential.
  • External audit experience welcomed Work following ISAs if required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure on multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Must be Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Office Suite user.
  • Proficient knowledge of NAV, SAP, IRIS Accounts Production and Corporation Tax, Xero, Quickbooks, Sage 50, Sage Accounts Production Advanced, Sage Accounts Production, Caseware, Digita, Onesource, Sage Tax.
  • Fluency (native language) in at least 1 of the following European languages ideal (Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese).
