The Role

Business Advisory Services Manager/Senior Manager (Edinburgh) - Part time or Full Time

Purpose of the role/key responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support the team in all aspects of a client portfolio, ensuring all client deadlines and demands are met by the wider client engagement team
  • Take ownership of client portfolio, continue to strengthen relationships with clients and their wider professional network to ensure satisfaction with services provided, working alongside client’s advisors and identifying opportunities to support clients
  • Take ownership and responsibility for delivery of all aspects of client work from start to finish by the client team, in relation to any accounting support required, on budget
  • Perform accounting work as may be required, particularly work of an advanced technical nature, oversees the finalisation of all accounts, produce detailed reports and ensure all client queries are answered on a timely basis
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of specialist advisory and project work to clients which provides specific tailored advice which meets the client’s needs, on budget
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge, undertaking research of new legislation, identifying opportunities for clients and advising accordingly
  • Liaise with external advisors (e.g. lawyers or bankers) as appropriate to deliver advice
  • Coach all members of the team and develop their technical knowledge, ensuring work is delegated to the appropriate level to aid development of the team
  • Be a vital part the management team, involved with the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring financial and utilisation targets and deadlines are met, support the partner group in setting and delivering the strategic objectives of the department
  • Understand the wider services of the firm, identifying opportunities to expand the service offering to clients
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of GAAP and Accounting Standards - in particular FRS 102 1A

Experience and skill set required for the role:

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge
  • Experience of handling a client portfolio with strong client engagement
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Experience of technical compliance and advisory work
  • Experience in utilising technology, cloud accounting software and implementing client-driven solutions
