What will you be doing?

We're recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join our UK Finance Operations team. This role will produce the monthly financial results for the Legacy Fixed EBU business and support the Fixed EBU Finance Manager by preparing data analysis, consolidation of data from different billing bases, customer level analysis and insight. The role has the responsibility to ensure compliance to Group accounting standards and to other policies by Vodafone Group, the role is key in the analysis and reporting of actual results and identification, development and measurement of KPI's of Group internal processes. You'll enjoy improving and streamlining processes and will have the ability to convey detailed and complex information clearly and concisely to stakeholders.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Accounting for both Mobile & Fixed products and services to enterprise customers. Preparation and review of the legacy systems 'UCS and THUS' financial statements in line with month end deadlines and Group accounting policies.
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all financial transactions through to the financial statement by end-to-end reconciliation from trial balance in Great Plains to SAP/OLAP reporting.
  • Preparation of month-on-month variance analysis at segment level for discussion with stakeholders. Review and investigate any significant departure from estimated margin and taking corrective action, making recommendations as required.
  • Responsible for producing and presenting customer profitability at Gross Margin level. Consistent improvement on margin reporting by analysing segmentations in detail.
  • Reviewing monthly intrastat and quarterly VAT returns for Group submission, liaising with the Tax and Audit teams on any queries.
  • Responsible for maintaining overall fixed line reporting pack in place for Month end reviews with FDS teams and for SOX requirements including E2E recs.
  • Understanding of IFRS & accounting standards. Particularly IFRS16.
  • Reconciliation of balance sheets, identifying risks and opportunities, recommending courses of actions as appropriate. Ensure ongoing compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and promote a highly controlled and accurate working environment
  • Adhoc deployment on any fixed accounting projects and queries and work with teams across functions to deliver business improvements


Who are we looking for?

  • ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualified or part qualified
  • OLAP/SAP or understanding of any Oracle based ERP (Desired but not essential)
  • Microsoft Great Plains/Dynamics (Desired but not essential)
  • Ms Excel - Efficient level (Pivot tables, Lookups, Sumifs, Index match)
  • Experience of SQL to a beginner's level, an advantage but not essential.
  • Comfortable working with databases, and large amounts of financial and non-financial data. Can handle Big Data, translate into meaningful information
