Description of business unit

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Transformation Team has been established within Group Finance to deliver the Finance Transformation Programme (Project Athru).

"Project Athru" is an exciting and multifaceted project fully aligned to the Group's transformation agenda and a key priority of Group Finance "to build a finance function for the future which, through simplification and automation, can focus on driving the Group strategy".

The Programme's objectives include the delivery of a new SAP environment, incorporating the delivery of Product Sub Ledgers, General Ledger, Consolidation functionality, Business Warehouse etc; and design of enhanced work practices to take advantage of the new technology.

Purpose of the Role

*Please note this is a 2 year fixed term contract

Given the scope of the Programme, it is broken down into multiple critical paths & work streams. With our consultant partners on the project, the team have established foundational steps to support the new SAP environment and future work practices. We are now looking to expand the team with subject matter expertise to ensure that all objectives of the programme are met during 2022 to 2024. Depending on abilities and resource requirement, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a number of work streams.

The Senior Analyst holds a key role in ensuring successful delivery by using their expertise and experience of Finance processes, people, tools, data, methodologies, partners, reporting requirements etc.

The role will involve providing business input, review and signoff on requirements and deliveries, collaborating closely with appropriate regulatory, finance and other partners, monitoring of progress, identification of risks and issues, actively resolving and advancing where required.

Key Accountabilities

The ideal candidate will possess a strong Finance background, have a deep understanding of finance processes and data flows, a delivery focused mentality with excellent organisation and communication skills. Main responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with our consultants to ensure the delivery of work stream objectives by completing the intended outcomes on time, within budget and to an acceptable quality standard.
  • Ensure business requirements are fully reflected in strategic approaches, planning or execution activities.
  • Provide regular communications to the Programme leads and key partners and represent the team at internal working groups and change fora as required.
  • Establish strong collaborative relationships across the Programme, the Delivery Stream Business Lead, wider Finance and the Group to ensure intended outcomes are on track to deliver.
  • Provide input at process workshops to craft best-practice, controlled processes. Early identification of issues or gaps and actively solutioning.
  • Support UAT testing of the system and processes, incorporating any required updates and secure/provide business signoff.
  • As part of launch readiness, support Organisational Change team detailing training procedures derived from process flows and facilitate other organisational change activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of Finance processes and the core operating systems from a data, accounting or regulatory perspective
  • Proven self-starter with strong communication skills and adept at establishing professional creditability and sustaining positive relationships with a wide range of partners in an exciting and dynamic environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability handle a range of contending priorities and tight delivery timelines.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • An understanding of SAP accounting & reporting modules.
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills with good attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience of the banks project change delivery approach.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or relevant Project Management or Business Analysis qualifications.
