Hilton Work Perks
In addition to a competitive salary you will also receive a range of excellent benefits - probably the best of which is our Go Hilton Team Member Travel Program. This provides you with access to heavily reduced hotel room rates for you, your family & friends. Perfect for the holiday savvy intern!
A bit about the job(s)
As an intern, you will be an integral part of the team and will play an active role in our continued success. You will carry out a range of administrative/support activities, as well as having ownership of your own project based initiatives.
You will be asked to select your top three choices of Finance Internship in order of preference, so here’s a bit about what each team does;
PTP (Procure to Pay)
The PTP team are responsible for ensuring correct expenditure accounting within Hilton by supporting the efficient operation of, processing and payment of over 450,000 transactions each year (translating to roughly half a billion pounds!). Sometimes referred to externally as Accounts Payable, the PTP team ensure that all payment processes are managed and measured with a ‘first time right’ mentality, and are constantly looking for new ways to optimise delivery within their area of expenditure control.
As an Intern, you will support across the entire lifecycle of purchase expense management, ensuring that payment performance is optimised, financial controls are complied with, and performance metric targets are achieved: all right first time
Hotel Accounting
The Hotel Accounting team acts as a custodian for the monthly management accounts of approximately 60 leased, owned and managed Hilton hotels across the UK & Ireland, and is the owner of the hotels’ Profit & Loss and Balance Sheets. This involves calculating and posting all required journals at month end and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
As an Intern, you will be involved in; banking setup and administration, responding to audit queries including SOX (internal and external), hotel additions and disposals and various continuous improvement initiatives.
Order-To-Cash (OTC)
The UK Corporate OTC team is responsible for accounting for Hilton’s international fee revenue and receivables from all our international Managed and Franchised hotels, from the development of a hotel, during its operating term, through to termination or expiry of the contract. As an intern, you will support the team with first reviews of all legal documents for financial implications, recording of journal transactions, preparation of standard monthly and ad-hoc reporting and monthly analysis of movements across fee revenue and receivables accounts. As a team, there are multiple deadlines to be met and you will be required to effectively prioritise and organise multiple tasks that enable the team to meet those deadlines. This role provides the opportunity to be part of an accounting function at a publicly traded global corporation and experience the volume and complexities it brings.
HTR (from Hire to Retire)
The HTR team is responsible for all payroll activities for approximately 10,000 Team Members across 54 leased and managed Hilton properties. The department is an extremely busy one and there are various monthly and annual payroll deadlines that must be met, in addition to the monthly company financial deadlines to ensure compliance.
There is plenty of scope to learn about UK payroll legislation and payroll accounting processes. In addition to supporting the HTR team with a major systems transition project, your day to day tasks would include; payroll accounting and reconciliations, general ledger postings from each payroll cycle, compliance and benefit reporting to HMRC, balance sheet reconciliations, GL journal entry processing, processing transactions and completion of monthly SOX controls.

You’ll be contacted via email by our Graduate Recruitment Team who will inform you of the outcome and (if applicable) next steps. If your application is taken forward, you will be asked to complete a series of online assessments and a video interview. A final assessment centre will then be held, the date for this will be announced closer to the time.
Beyond the Internship
Whilst we are not always able to guarantee an offer of employment at the end of your studies, we like to keep in touch with our intern community and many have successfully re-joined Hilton upon completion of their degree. Many of our former Finance Interns are either in the process of completing their CIMA or ACCA qualifications with us or have qualified and are currently operating in Manager level positions within various areas of our Finance Department.
