Position Summary:

The Assistant Accountant is responsible for the maintenance and development of several critical financial processes and reconciliations. These processes primarily relate to management and financial reporting, payroll, and accounts payable.

The Assistant Accountant will work closely with other members of the UK finance team and operational staff within the schools, as well as colleagues across a range of other business functions, other geographical regions, and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of the petty cash and book stock processes across schools (UK & Ireland only).
  • Ownership of the Bank reconciliation process across all schools (UK & Ireland only).
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset register across UK/Ireland schools.
  • Prepare monthly income, trade bookings and cost journals for postings into the Sage X3 accounting system.
  • Assisting in quarterly Trade debtor reconciliation.
  • Production of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations (UK & Ireland only).
  • Production of quarterly VAT returns (UK only).
  • Contribute, as required, to the delivery of the UK and Ireland annual Audits.
  • Production of monthly foreign exchange reporting.
  • Own and develop the process of coordination, reporting and reconciliations of spend on company pre-paid debit cards.
  • Prepare and maintain records of various government surveys.
Experience / Attributes Required:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working within a similar finance role.
  • Able to manage a busy and dynamic workload in a time pressured environment.
  • Evidence of developing and improving financial processes is additional plus.
  • Able to quickly understand changing business needs and risks, and to adapt processes to accommodate.
