Working as part of a wider finance team in the Manchester area, the In House Group Tax Manager will oversee the tax position for the business across all tax types. This will include global tax compliance for the group, deferred tax calculations, transfer pricing, tax forecasting, indirect taxes and the development and management of the overall tax strategy

This is a growing FMCG business that is a world leader in its sector. It is headquartered in the Manchester but with significant overseas operations.

Description

The successful In House Group Tax Manager will be responsible for:

  • Management of the end-to-end process for the Group's UK and overseas tax compliance, including:
    • Preparation of UK tax packs and training/support thereon to UK finance personnel
    • Production of the UK corporate tax returns and correspondence with UK HMRC
    • Preparation and submission of UK VAT returns
    • Development of a pack to collect data from around the Group in order to both produce consolidated current and deferred tax
    • Monitoring, management and review of overseas Group sites to ensure that the local tax compliance (direct and indirect) is maintained up to date
  • Development and maintenance of models to calculate deferred tax balances.
  • Maintain and update Group-wide transfer pricing documentation including calculation of certain Group recharges.
  • Involvement on any tax projects both in the UK and overseas (e.g. transfer pricing, tax structures, corporate simplification, acquisition tax due diligence/support).
  • Management of any tax audit (direct and indirect) or enquiries within the Group (possible overseas travel).
  • Preparation of tax forecasting for the Group, including:
    • Responsibility and assessment of the Group's central tax provision
    • Estimation of a consolidated effective tax rate
    • Supporting the Group Finance Team in developing tax adjusted profit forecasts for assessing deferred tax balances across the Group
  • Preparation of Audit Committee Papers to support taxation judgements at half year and full year, including discussion of effective tax rate, central tax provision and deferred tax.
  • Preparation of the tax disclosures in the financial statements for the Group and UK financial statements.
  • Development of Group taxation policies.

Profile

The successful In House Group Tax Manager will have/be:

  • Detailed knowledge of UK corporation tax
  • International tax experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to operate at all levels of the organisation
  • Up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • A professional approach which generates credibility and confidence from others
  • Confident and assertive with a self-motivated approach and flexible attitude
  • The ability to work in partnership and across boundaries to achieve results
  • Ability to successfully present challenging messages
  • Driven to support continuous improvement
  • Comfortable in different international cultures and in dealing with sometimes sensitive issues

  • A qualified accountant / Tax Advisor (ACA / ACCA / CTA)

Job Offer

The successful In House Group Tax Manager will receive:

  • Competitive salary - circa £80,000 - £85,000
  • £6000 car allowance + 10 % bonus
  • Range of other benefits
