The Global P&F Finance Lead provides financial leadership of our planning & fulfillment operations and working capital structure. The role has governance end-to-end of our supply chain processes from: demand planning, to production planning, replenishment, and distribution, to inventory across the network. The role requires building strong relationships with key stakeholders, colleagues across ISC, GBUs, Regions, and finance.

This visible role supports the Global fulfillment spend of $1.4B, inventory of $2.6B, ~123 warehouses, and ~2,600 employees supporting logistics, warehousing, customer service, sales, and inventory planning in varied go-to-market strategies.

The role plays a critical role across the horizonal of the GBUs and regions and will be a key player in the finance transformation and re-organization as we shift our operating model.

Critical Responsibilities:

Overall

  • Strategic partner to operations senior leadership to drive operational excellence in processes, systems, financials (cost and inventory) – such as, network optimization, inventory management, and contract negotiations.
  • Partner across Baxter’s P&F Operations – Regions and Global Support, Commercial, Manufacturing, Finance, Corporate Reporting, and Corporate Accounting organizations to ensure financial commitments are achieved within the fiscal year and long-range plan targets.
  • Lead the comprehensive planning and reporting processes including monthly financial outlooks, Annual Operating Plans, Quarterly Forecasts, and Long-Range Plan.
  • Design and implement financial reporting measures/KPI’s. Ensures issues/gaps are identified, resolution action plans are established, and status is communicated to both Supply Chain and Finance Management.
  • Manage and develop a team including indirect reporting relationship to the FP&A CoEs globally.
  • Ensures appropriate levels of alignment, governance, and integration with other end-to-end business processes, including P2P, A2R, and FP&A.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place to drive compliance to Baxter’s policies and procedures.
  • Take active role in developing business, operational, and financial acumen across the P&F organization. Learn the business, products, strategy, and link to P&F team.

Fulfillment

  • Partner in the S&OP process to achieve corporate cash flow objectives related to inventory and driving programs to manage optional inventory levels.
  • Support Capital Planning, Forecasting and Reporting processes to manage Cash Flow expectations and secure adequate funding for Profit Maintenance, Quality, VIP and Capacity programs.
  • Support total delivered cost framework that provides insight to the most cost-effective customers/product mix.
  • Utilize understanding of fulfillment cost composition to understand where opportunities exist to improve both fixed and variable costs.

Planning

  • Partner with planning on assessing and quantifying variance and inventory impact of revised Ops/Supply Plans
  • Support planning in setting/changing inventory targets (inventory plan and variance impact related to target setting)
  • Support planning in inventory reductions program and monitor actuals.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for drivers of inventory changes, such as new product launch timing, production v. plan, demand swings, business model changes, quality release cycles, raw material purchasing, etc.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a financial, accounting, or business-related field. Graduate degree desirable in a related field preferred. CPA or equivalent a plus.
  • 12-15 years’ experience in manufacturing and supply chain accounting, as well as a thorough understanding and subject matter expertise of end-to-end process management and systems.
  • Highly motivated with a proven track record in implementing change including large-scale global and digital transformations, ideally having successfully completed a similar program for manufacturing/operations.
  • Outstanding organization skills with demonstrated capability to standardize and influence and collaborate across regional teams and cultures including outsource providers.
  • Experience in working with a global, diverse team in a highly fluid matrix organization.
  • Capability to help execute the business case for change by analyzing and leveraging best practices.
  • Lean or continuous process improvement experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication (multi-lingual preferred), interpersonal and execution skills required.
  • Capability to report out to leadership levels of the company.
  • Strong presence.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
