The purpose of the role is to support the Financial Reporting Manager and Senior Financial Accountant in the completion of daily, weekly and monthly Financial Accounting tasks including those related to reconciliation, internal and external reporting and the monthly close process.

The role supports the re-write and improvement of the financial control’s manual. The role supports the CH Finance Risk Management process.

The role supports the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements of Companies House and its Trust Statement.

This role is a Hybrid role, with office attendance 2 to 3 times a week. 

Job Description

  • Perform the reconciliation and ensuring integrity of balance sheet accounts, closing the General Ledger on a monthly basis and contribute to ensuring all transactions recorded are accurate and complete;
  • Responsible for leading the fixed asset accounting process;
  • Perform daily cash flow monitoring and forecasting update tasks;
  • Support the preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns;
  • Be responsible for VAT compliance;
  • Assist the audit process and preparation of annual statutory accounts;
  • Support the re-write & improvement of the financial controls’ manual
  • Support the development/automation of current processes;
  • The postholder will need to be technically competent and demonstrate an awareness of government accounting principles & processes.

Technical Skills

  • Technical Financial Accounting experience
  • Proven skills in problem solving
  • Experience of all Microsoft Office products (Excel to a minimum of intermediate level)
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines with conflicting demands
  • Excellent communication skills using business and technical language to all levels where appropriate
  • A flexible and reliable approach to deal with a constantly changing working environment

 Essential

  • Would suit CCAB part - qualified accountant/accountancy qualification studier
  • Experience gained in a Financial Accounting position in a Finance section, either in private or public sector.
