The opportunity

We are seeking a Non-Financial Reporting (ESG) and Assurance Manager and Senior Managers to join the Climate Change and Sustainability Services team based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. We are looking for passionate assurance professionals to join our ESG reporting and assurance practice.

The EY Climate Change and Sustainability Services Team has recently been recognised by Verdantix as the global leader in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) consulting. Our Oceania business comprises a multidisciplinary team of more than 200 passionate professionals providing support and advice to clients across all market sectors. We are the leading sustainability consulting practice in Oceania, and work across the full spectrum of sustainability and climate change issues, including ESG strategy, outcomes measurement, climate risk and decarbonisation, work health and safety, human rights and modern slavery through advisory and assurance engagements. Your key responsibilities
  • Manage the non-financial audit engagement (including sustainability metrics, emissions and energy reporting across a range of industry sectors) by defining audit strategy, in consultation with the team / Partner, and executing it in compliance with our policies and protocol. Provide assurance of non-financial reporting,
  • Effectively manage the non-financial Audit process with appropriate consideration of audit risk issues and sustainability technical matters
  • Lead and manage fieldwork on clients' sites including liaising with other departments to ensure the smooth delivery of the non-financial audit process
  • Expertise in non-financial reporting frameworks such as the Modern Slavery Act, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting (NGER) scheme, the Safeguard Mechanism and the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF), as well as emerging standards such as ISSB


Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have:
  • Proven experience in delivering external audit and assurance engagements
  • Experience leading the planning, execution and reporting on audits
  • Proven track record with developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong technical analytical skills.


Ideally, you'll also have:
  • At least 5-7 years' experience as an auditor
  • Professional services/consulting experience
  • A strong academic record, including a degree and progress towards/completion of a recognised accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice as well as a good understanding of the issues within the Sustainability industry, such as the Modern Slavery Act, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), amongst others
  • Practical experience with energy and emissions reporting schemes including National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting (NGER) scheme, the Safeguard Mechanism and the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF)
