Job Description Summary

Finance is key to that success by securing and building the financial strength and performance of the Bank. In the Centre of Excellence (CoE) we provide a service dedicated to enabling and serving Finance Business Partners, made up of three teams: the Planning and Analysis (P&A) team, the Reporting and Controls (R&C) team, and the Performance Improvement (PI) team.

Job Description

You'll be joining the R&C team, supporting the Control, Investment and Reporting teams, although there is an expectation that the role will be flexible and support across the wider team, where demand requires. The role is a 12 month secondment to backfill for SMEs who will support the Transformation programme.

The successful candidate will be either a qualified accountant, or at final level of studying.

Our Hybrid ways of working means that you can find a work-life balance that suits you, with a mix of home and office working. The expectation currently is that you work a minimum of two days a week in the Edinburgh Office, and requires 35 hours per week. However, we will consider applications for agile working arrangements.

We're looking for someone who can:
  • Lead on the production of standard reporting and Management Information packs for both BAU & Investment cost base including Flash, month end, planning.
  • Maintain a robust financial control framework including support of Month End Journals, Reconciliations and Reporting & Control
  • Support the Investment Portfolio team in managing the transition to Platforms and delivery of Flash, month end, planning.
  • Actively assist and empower junior colleagues to assist in the creation of a successful and engaged team to achieve objectives and deliver above expectations.
  • Review and oversight of junior colleagues' outputs, and timely escalation to appropriate management for issue resolution.
  • Continuously promote and embed a process improvement culture within the team.
  • Represent Group Reporting and Cost Management across all key partners, including the Costs CoE teams, Business Partners teams, External Auditors and Group Finance Support Teams.

What about you?

You'll be looking to build on the finance professional career you've already started and be able to bring the following skills and experience:
Essential:
  • Good technical and numerical skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Technical experience includes Financial Control specific accountabilities i.e., Month End, Planning / Forecasting, MI/Reporting and Reconciliations & Control
  • Some prior exposure to process improvement activity.
  • Competent user of Finance systems and software.
Desirable:
  • Experience working within a COE or shared service Finance function, within a large, complex organisation.
  • Financial Services experience would be beneficial.
