The role of Finance Manager is to lead financial planning, reporting, control and compliance processes for Sainsbury's Non Food sales and margin, provide input and support the company's commercial and strategic decision making processes including inputs into Strategic Planning, Pricing and Trading Board forums, head external / internal audit processes for the relevant area, lead and develop the team of 3 qualified and 2 part qualified accountants.

What you need to do

  • To deliver period, half yearly and yearly reporting Non Food Margin and Sales (P&L, Balance sheet & Cash), analysing commercial/ operational drivers for reporting and audit.


  • To support delivering budgets, latest view forecasts and strategic plans for Sainsbury's Non Food sales and margin to enable management decision making based upon the most up to date and accurate views of current and future performance.


  • Deliver appropriate financial control and technical knowledge to ensure Sainsbury's Non Food Sales and Margin arears adhere to Financial regulations and are in line with Sainsbury's Group accounting policies


  • To provide accounting expertise and control of operational processes relating to Sainsbury's Non Food area to ensure accurate and representative profit & loss/balance sheet and the management of all risks and opportunities


  • Business partnering with various stakeholders across the Group including Commercial and Operational finance


What you need to know and show
  • Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
  • Exceptional analytical skills, Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Assertive, challenging and confident with strong inter-personal skills
  • Experience of working with and presenting analytical results to Non-Finance user

  • Able to utilise available resources to achieve outputs required in this role including leading Period End closure and reporting/ Latest view Forecast & Budget / Audit processes
  • Able to use knowledge and experience to make decisions, knows when to check or consult with others to support a reporting architecture of insight
  • Draw on the knowledge and experience considering at times the best interest of the company and consideration of the relevant business impact.
