About the role

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our growing team here at CPS.

This role will see you acting as the Finance lead for our Service Delivery Directorate and be a key member of the Service Delivery leadership team.

You will have overall financial management responsibility, to include the provision of meaningful and accurate financial information, with insightful interpretation and analysis to help shape business performance.

You will be expected to partner with operational and commercial colleagues to achieve improved business performance. You will need to demonstrate and facilitate the collaboration between all business units and represent the finance team at senior management meetings

What you'll be doing

Reporting Processes

  • Responsible for annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly reporting of the financial performance of the Service Delivery Directorate
  • Report actual performance monthly against budget/forecast, understand variances, and track risk and opportunities to meeting targets
  • Assist the commercial and operations team to recognise revenue on all activities monthly, challenging where necessary
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve anomalies arising during monthly reporting
  • Lead the monthly internal financial review with the commercial and operational teams
  • To represent the Service Delivery Directorate at the Senior Management Team and Senior Leadership Team meeting
  • Oversee the weekly cost reporting process, to include insights from the electronic time sheeting system
  • Oversee weekly reconciliation of Service Delivery Inventory
  • Production of ad-hoc reports and balance sheet reconciliations

Management Duties

  • To coach and support Service Delivery operational managers and commercial team through a process of education and participation, to own delivery of their budgets
  • To challenge the veracity of inputs to ensure the quality of the directorates financial reporting
  • Overall management of WIP and Overmeasure for the directorate
  • To maintain the Risk & Opportunities schedule for the directorate
  • Support the operational and commercial colleagues with any finance related issues
  • Undertake an annual review of processes and procedures. Review applicability and eliminate waste.

Wider Finance Duties

  • To be the Service Delivery lead on CPS finance systems
  • Maximise directorate profitability through effective financial management, challenge, and insight
  • Minimise miscoding of transactions through education and review
  • Oversee the opening and closing of task numbers to ensure the application of a consistent methodology and avoid duplication
  • Interface with central Finance team to ensure:
  • Information is provided on time
  • Continuous improvement
  • Management of change
  • Process and system improvement needs of Service Delivery are recognised and taken forwards
  • To be the finance contact for audit queries pertaining to the Service Delivery Directorate

Who we're looking for

Qualifications and experience

  • CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified
  • Strong technical accounting experience
  • An understanding of information requirements at various levels of stakeholders
  • Proven history of producing quality internal financial reports
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage and implement change, LEAN processes, or similar experience
  • Advanced MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, BI skills
  • Good financial and non-financial systems skills
  • Knowledge and experience of an ERP reporting system; Oracle R12 being desirable but not necessary
