Job Description

About the role:

At Next we have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Finance Coordinator within our Head Office Banking team. The Head Office Banking team at Next are responsible for processing all of the outbound payment requests generated by the business, equivalent to around £80m each week.The team also maintain approximately 75 cashbooks across 21 currencies.This is a fast-paced department, servicing the whole business in transacting a high volume of transactions, with tight deadlines at times

This role is based at our Head Office in Leicestershire.

You will:

  • Prepare and issue payments requested by the business for bank authorisation, ensuring all payments have been approved in line with company policy
  • Manage the allocation of payments to available authorisers to ensure all payments are sent within relevant deadlines and banking cut-offs
  • Ensure all cash books are reconciled on a daily basis, with any queries or discrepancies to be investigated immediately, liaising with the relevant stakeholders as necessary
  • Complete monthly, half-year and full-year end reconciliations to support financial close
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiencies and work with the team to test and implement any changes
  • Identify any control weaknesses and flag immediately, working with the team to eliminate them
  • Support with the testing and refining of new banking/payment services solutions as and when they are implemented
  • Participate in initiatives designed to improve processes and improve controls
  • Provide input for system specification when new software solutions are being explored
