Financial Controller - The role
As Financial Controller you will be an experienced hands-on qualified accountant.
Your key role will be managing the company's finances and improving the financial reporting processes. You will also have some responsibility for HR and insurance.

You will be a "hands-on", proactive Financial Controller who has worked at a similar level previously. Ideally you will have worked in family-owned businesses previously and have an interest in sustainability.

Financial Controller - The role
As Financial Controller you will be an experienced hands-on qualified accountant.
Your key role will be managing the company's finances and improving the financial reporting processes. You will also have some responsibility for HR and insurance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Attend monthly meeting with directors and external accountants to discuss results;
- Process monthly journals and prepare accounts to Trial Balance;
- Perform monthly control account reconciliations;
- Prepare prepayments and accruals schedules;
- Manage Fixed Assets including compliance, depreciation and HP payments;
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and liaison with HMRC;
- Perform credit checks on new customers and recommend credit limits;
- Oversee Sales Ledger;
- Liaise with external accountants and prepare financial information to support the year end accounts and tax returns;
- Manage monthly payroll and make payments;
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations;
- Manage insurance renewal process;
- HR responsibilities including employee contracts;
- Supply information for and submit ONS surveys;
- Oversee and support the Finance Assistant;
- Assist with ad hoc finance projects and reports;
- Develop systems to improve reporting requirements.
The Successful Applicant
You will be a "hands-on", proactive Financial Controller who has worked at a similar level previously. Ideally you will have worked in family-owned businesses previously and have an interest in sustainability.
Requirements include:
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Working knowledge of Sage 200 and/or Xero desirable;
- Green energy experience desirable;
- An inquiring analytical mind;
- A can-do attitude and ability to work on your own initiative;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Planning and time management skills;
- System evaluation /implementation experience valuable.
