Job Description

The job: Accounts Assistant.

Thermo Fisher Scientific have an excellent opportunity for an individual to join the Corporate Reporting Team either in our Altrincham or Paisley office. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding Global Business Service in an organisation considered a global leader in its field which offers great career development and opportunities. The successful candidate will be a key team member working alongside our colleagues to ensure accurate transactional reporting, that is fully reconciled each month.

What will you do?

  • Processing both intercompany and external accounts payable invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Raising intercompany recharges in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Processing payment runs and ad hoc payments.
  • Manage specific bank accounts throughout the month, reconciling all entries posted, investigating and resolving any differences.
  • Agree intercompany AR and AP balances with appropriate counterparty for month-end close, establishing relationships with finance colleagues around the globe.
  • Review and clear aged AR and AP items.
  • Process the monthly intercompany netting payments and allocate any payments/receipts
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations for accounts within the role's remit, researching and resolving any reconciling items on a monthly basis.
  • Completion and filing on time of Office of National statistics reporting.

Who we are looking for:
  • Highly motivated and detail oriented individual with excellent communication, computer and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail as accuracy is required in performing all aspects of the role
  • Proficient in MS Excel, especially Pivot tables.
  • Ability to work well under time constraints.
  • High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement.

  • Working knowledge of SAP (desired but not essential as training will be provided).
  • Experience of dealing with VAT invoices from across Europe (desired but not essential as training will be provided).
