The role works within the Retail Costs Finance team and is responsible for supporting Labour. This role is responsible for creating the assets required to effectively business partner, focussing on value creation and collectively strengthening our performance. The job holder will provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders, aiming to influence and drive decisions and actions that improve the bottom line. This individual will support the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Managers in their business area and the wider Finance team as required.

What you need to do

• Act as key Finance Business Partner for the Retail teams interpreting management reporting to provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders and providing challenge to the business
• Run and interpret corporate management reporting to provide timely insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders across Sainsbury's and Argos
• Support the business in identifying risks, anomalies and opportunities. Take the lead in prioritising these and work with the business to manage them
• Ensure close alignment between multiple stakeholders by delivering clear and robust analysis in a timely manner in line with initiatives and plans across the business
• Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis for the business area as required to drive improvements
• Work with internal teams, such as our data team (ADA), as required to complete analysis to resolve business problems
• Work with the Retail Reporting and Change team to develop uniformity of reporting and performance evaluation across all Retail channels enabling your business partners to quickly establish their areas of focus through the Channel, Cost line and Geographic lenses
• In line with timelines and process set by FP&A, work with business to manage Corporate and Channel Labour Forecasting, Latest View, Budgeting and Q2F
• Challenge the business on existing strategic initiatives and identify new strategic opportunities, helping them to prioritise appropriately
• Support the wider team on other Finance processes and budgets as required
• Attend business review meetings supporting our Stakeholders as needed
• Success in this role will mean supporting the business in making decisions that enhance performance across Store Operating Profit and EBIT

What you need to know and show

• Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA), or studying towards qualification
• Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight and being able to clearly articulate this through your communication
• Strong commercial acumen
• To have a good track record of strong financial control, but also the ability to maintain such an environment
• Effective communicator with all levels of stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
• Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously, prioritise with good problem-solving abilities
• Must have a strong eye for detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritise
