Job Description & Summary

The reconciliations clerk is responsible for reconciling key transactions across the general ledger and sub-ledgers together with other related clearing accounts.

Reporting to the Reconciliations Manager, the clerk is responsible for ensuring that this key control activity is administered on a routine and timely basis. The clerk will also report insights gained from the reconciliation activities, and will support in the identification of areas where controls and procedures may be improved, and in the development of solutions to improve the wider controls environment.

We would like to hear from individuals with experience of working in a finance function, with and understanding of double entry bookkeeping, and who are detail oriented with good data management and analysis skills.

Responsible for the completion of financial reconciliations to support the maintenance of accurate and complete financial records. Carrying out the following core activities:

Verification of GL balances and reconciliation of:

  • Control accounts to subledgers
  • Individual subledgers (supplier, employee, contractor) with supporting third party statements
  • Banks and (petty) cash balances, deposits and payments
  • Process and reconcile transactions and accounts of a complex nature
  • Maintain regular contact with internal and external business partners to facilitate efficient completion of reconciliation process
  • Ensure follow-up actions as and when necessary
  • Adhere to Firm standards, policy and procedures in reconciliation clerical activities, and deliver in line with required SLAs
  • Maintain appropriate files, reports, documentation and data to support reconciliation activity, findings and actions
  • Supporting month end closing activities and working with finance teams to ensure reconciliations are completed and reconciling items are actioned and cleared within required deadlines
  • Supporting in the identification of causes of reconciling items, working with relevant teams to improve operational and system performance and reduce long term incidence of reconciling items


  • Professional Accounting Qualification (ACCA, CMA or equivalent) preferred but not required.


  • Written and spoken English required, proficiency in Arabic preferred

Overall Experience

  • 1+ years of accounting experience role, experience of reconciliations preferred but not required

Specific Experience

  • Experience working in a Finance function required
  • Experience in the Professional Services industry an advantage

Knowledge and Skills

  • Good analytical and data analysis ability, proficiency with computer based tools .e.g. Excel, Alteryx, Power BI
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices
  • Knowledge of internal controls and segregation of duties within finance and accounts
  • Organization, thoroughness, eye for detail
  • Time management skills and proactivity
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Capability to work well in a team and under pressure
  • Strong work ethic
