We are looking for a skilled and passionate Finance and Operations Manager to join our Group Services team in Abingdon.

HW Group Services Ltd provides our practices with skills, tools and consultancy services, enabling them to achieve more and improve their businesses. The HWGS Team is responsible for supporting the provision of those services and processing the resulting accounting transactions.

You will report to the Group Company Secretary. Reporting to you is the Accounts Assistant whose role it is to provide financial support, advice and governance in a very transactional and deadline-based role as part of the wider HWGS team.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday

Your duties will be:

  • Managing the financial operations and administrative duties generally
  • Collating information from around the group for various purposes and compiling statistics and reports
  • Liaising with third party providers of services and supplies to the Group regarding their charges in accordance with contracts, agreeing requirements with offices, supervising the production of our sales invoices and reconciling recharges with purchases.
  • Liaising with Group insurers
  • Managing the Accounts Assistant whose responsibilities include maintenance of accounting records, raising of invoices, processing of transactions on online banking software and processing direct debit collection.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the accounting records by monthly reconciliations, preparation of management accounts and reports to departmental heads.
  • Developing good relationships with partners, internal accountants and administrators based in our practices around the UK.
  • Keeping your technical knowledge and personal development skills up to date.
  • Supervising and developing other team members.
  • Seeking opportunities to improve processes

Your experience ideally will include:

  • Experience of managing people
  • Experience maintaining accounting records
  • Assisting in financial reporting
  • Previous experience of Sage 50 and online banking software
  • Experience of incorporating checks to ensure accuracy, standing back from the detail ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard
  • Having to juggle a number of priorities whilst ensuring deadlines are met
  • Communicating with all levels within an organisation
  • Managing your own workload
  • Creative thinking and having to consider the 'bigger picture'
